Would you recommend this for writing notes on while in a class? Because at my school we are allowed laptops to write notes, most people just use a basic word processor such as word, but that is difficult to organise your files with.

Scrivener Gold is an early beta version of Scrivener that they made publicly available. Since it is an unfinished early version of Scrivener with bugs, I didn’t include it in the post.

Hey guys, it would be worth pointing out in the article that’s there’s a “lite” version that’s called Scrivener Gold. It has most of the features, it’s just not as sexy. Check it out, this one’s free.

I love the idea of the cork board! I’m going to give this a try… could come in handy when doing school work. Unfortunately it’s $35, but hey! Not everything can be free .

For a much simpler solution, I use OmniOutliner Pro (http://www.omnigroup.com) for brainstorming, and WriteRoom (http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/product/writeroom) for distraction-free writing. Both cost money, but you can use OmniOutliner (-Pro) and I believe you can get WriteRoom 1.0 for free (http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/files/releases/WriteRoom-1.0.dmg). That’s the version I use.
