The iPad has been presented this week and alongside its introduction, iOS 4.3 made its appearance and will be shipped with the new iPad. Apple also announced that the iOS 4.3 software update will be available on the same day the new iPad will be on Apple Store tables and shelves: March 11. As you may know, iOS 4.3 will present a number of new features such as iTunes Home Sharing and possibly the most anticipated feature, the Personal Hotspot.

Hi eveyone,

I'm the developer of Spotlaser. I'd like to say thanks to all those who have offered kind words in regards to Spotlaser.
For those who are having issues, I would love to hear from you so we can work out the issues you are reporting. I'm more than willing to help.
Sure, finder has the ability to do searches for the same stuff, but you have to add individual options and dig through the interface to find them. Also Spotlaser adds the ability to search for files where you don't know the exact size, with an "Approximately" selection for file size.
As for searching for mail messages, this has been explicitly left out for the reason that Finder currently has issues in displaying the search results for mail (and also iCal events). Finder shows .elmx files and not the subject of the message, making the results effectively useless.
Thanks again everyone.

Regards,

Jason @ frovil heavy industries

@Joe

I didn't have any of those types of issues, but as I said I did have a few problems with the app, mainly involving mail messages. I still think it's important to feature Spotlaser, though, because no doubt it will continue to improve with more users.

I hate to be negative, but I'll do it. :)

Has anyone actually tested this thing? A friend and I have the same issue on two different macs. Using SpotLaser, I search for "budget" -- I got 8 results, some of which have the word "angel" in the filename. Next I type "angel" in SpotLaser's "Without the words" field and search again, 8 results. THE SAME RESULTS. What gives? Is the "Without the words" field broken? Can anyone verify this?

@Rebby

True, but I personally think the Spotlaser interface is a lot nicer and easier to navigate rather than having to specify a bunch of regular expressions.

I thought this sort of search functionality was built into ...Finder. If you select Finder with Alt-Tab, and press command+f, a find window pops up where you can specify search criteria...Just a thought.
