Rip It Easy With TubeSock

There are thousands and thousands of music videos, TV Shows, and home videos just waiting to be watched on YouTube. However, it can be difficult to rip videos into a format viewable on your devices. You could download the videos using a site like DUBAyou and then use a converter, but this method takes a lot of time and effort. A more elegant solution is TubeSock. For $15.00, you get an app that can download and encode a video from YouTube straight into iTunes in an iPod-ready format.

TubeSock

To use TubeSock, simply visit YouTube as you normally would and find a video you want to watch on the go. Copy the URL from your web browser into the TubeSock box, and choose where you want the video to go. Hit ‘Save’ and you’re done. You can also preview the clip in TubeSock by pressing the ‘Preview’ button. TubeSock isn’t just for the iPod, either. TubeSock can convert videos into formats suitable for Palm devices, PSP, AppleTV, or even the iPhone.

There are a few applications that do similar things to TubeSock, but at the moment it’s the most flexible and easy to use application in its category. Another app that sticks out is Tubular, which is actually a bit different than TubeSock. Tubular is currently in beta and not available for download, but we will take a closer look at it as soon as we get a chance. For the moment, though, TubeSock works for me. Out of the smaller, simpler apps I’ve purchased, TubeSock is one of the best.

It will be nice if tubesock can detect the video page currently viewed via some kind of “listener” so i dont have to copy the url back and forth between my browser and tubesock. also, there is also an online conversion site that i regularly use: http://keepvid.com/. Another comprehensive conversion service online that does even more than video: http://keepvid.com/

Doesn’t work as promised. Audio only (no video). Publisher does not respond to support requests. Others are complaining about the same issue. Try the free demo first to see if it will work for you.
It doesn’t for me (an experienced mac user with 10+ years experience) and brand new machines…
