3 Freeware Games that will Kill your Productivity
There are many games available on the Mac platform that are total productivity killers. Games that will have you spending large chunks of your time experimenting, or just trying to take the game play to that next level of intensity. These next few games may not be well known, but are definitely worth a mention.
In BallDroppings there is no score, no time limit or any levels. Basically, there is a spot at the top of the screen where little white balls drop, and you draw lines with your mouse that the balls bounce off of. After a pause another ball drops, and the game continues on like this. Each ball will continue to bounce until it falls off the edge of the screen. Now that explanation doesn’t do the game complete justice, but after downloading and using it for a few minutes, you will see why it is on this list. This game runs full screen, and is appropriate for all ages. BallDroppings is available here.

2. MacSwear
MacSwear is a 3D version of the classic game Snake. The point of the game is to see how long the Snake can get, without touching the tail. The twist on MacSwear, is that you are in a 3D environment. So instead of there being walls, you are traveling around a shape collecting the Snakes “food”. There are over 20 different shapes that you can play on, and three different game modes (Normal, Hunt and Blind). Take this game out for a spin, and you won’t be disappointed. MacSwear is available here.

Canvas Wars 2 is the sequel to the the Mac game Canvas Wars. The aim of Canvas Wars 2 is to cover the canvas with as much of your color as possible, while covering up your opponents. Up to 24 bugs can be on the canvas at once, six of which can be controlled by human players via the keyboard. There are different power-ups that you can get that will aid you in covering your opponents color, such as Milk (makes your bug bigger) and Gas (makes your bug go faster). Many aspects of the game play are customizable, so each match is different. Canvas Wars 2 is currently in beta, and is available from the developers site.

If you enjoy a good game or two every once in a while, these 3 will not disappoint. You will find yourself digging these out whenever you are bored, or just feel like being creative.

I’ll have to check those ones out. My favorites are Quinn and Frenzic.
Thanks for the MacSwear recommendation. I had never seen it before and I like it!
As soon as I saw Canvas Wars 2 I knew the writer would be a heister.
As soon as I saw the author was Greg H, I knew he was boboboe.
Productivity? What’s that?
CW2 dev here. It’ll be in beta until I can find some reason to finish it. There are one or two bugs and I need to totally rework the new game interface.
Thanks for the review!
[...] but where is the fun in that? There are plenty of games you could use to fill that 10-minute gap (MacApper has covered a few before), one of my personal favorites is Mountain [...]
