Apple iPod – Music, Videos, Games, and Widgets?

ipod widgets?Yes, that’s right, widgets for your Apple iPod. Recently a company by the name of Koloroo released two iPod widgets named Tipkalc and Kolorwheel. These iPod widgets are one of the first I have ever seen and they are a great start.

Tipkalc is an iPod tip calculator. Like its brother (or sister) Kolorwheel, it is very easy to install and use. By spinning the click wheel to your right, it can calculate a 15% tip. To go even further, the company put in a cost splitter which can be used for up to five people. I go out often and this is way easier than doing the math in my head. Oh yeah, by the way, it was a featured download on Apple’s website.

On the other hand, Kolorwheel can not really be used on a daily basis by almost anyone. It does one thing, but it does it pretty well. It picks and coordinates colors (it’s a color wheel). For people who can not color coordinate their clothes, I guess this could be pretty handy, but there are also some more practical ues for it too. If you are doing a home/apartment makeover it can be really handy for furniture and paint colors.

Very interesting post, but could you add in some links to the application websites and the “featured download” page? That’d make the post much more informative.

I’m so sorry. The link to Koloroo’s KolorWheel is https://www.koloroo.com/?page_id=7, and the link to Koloroo’s TipKalc is https://www.koloroo.com/?page_id=8.

Enjoy! (I believe there is some sort of trial you can download from apple’s download section but I may be wrong)

most cell phones have a tip calculator and it goes way higher then 5 people and you can do whatever % you want (although you may be able to with this i am not sure). the point is when you are out to dinner you are more likely to have your phone then ipod.

This is actually a pretty creative way to accomplish what they are doing. I would have never thought of that.

How do you go about creating an iPod widget? Can you do complicated things or is it only ever going to be things like tips and tetris?

I’d love to see The Filter ( TheFilter.com as an iPod widget.
