PodTube Review: Dowload Flash Videos for Less
PodTube by djodjodesign is a fairly new competitor in the growing market of applications that allow you to download flash videos (i.e. Youtube) to your iPod. Like the others, PodTube is certainly a one-trick-pony, but it does its job with an elegant and simple interface, which I like. Also, probably the greatest selling points of the application is its dirt cheap price. PodTube sells for just $5.
Downloading videos with PodTube is super simple. Just open the video you want to download from Youtube, Dailymotion, Myspace, or any other. Now open PodTube and click “Get video.” That’s really it. The video will be added to iTunes, from which you can add it to your iPod or export to a location of your choosing.
According to their website the version 2.0 – 2.1 changes include:
- Now you can use any download folder in Safari (not necessarily the Desktop)
- Dailymotion and Vids.myspace support, plus YouTube
- Sleek new interface, with a simple, floating window
- 3 encoding quality levels
- Dual / Quad core optimized encoding
- FLV2 support
- Ability to cancel process at any time
- Remember settings

FLVR does this exact same thing – downloads to itunes, extremely simple interface , and completely integrated with Safari (a nice little button next to the Refresh, Add Bookmark, and address bar)
Best of all, it does if for free…
Interesting, but I’m content to take the DIY route:
Firefox + GreaseMonkey + YouTube download script + iSquint = 100% free. There’s no automatic conversion (though I suppose you could set up an automator action) but there really doesn’t need to be.
i used to use this for 1.0 it was great and looked beautiful but only safari support=
however i kept it and upgraded to 2.0 and kept getting several annoying error pop up boxes once i ran the app 
sooooo i switched to TubeSock and no problems today 
and all i need is the URL of the vid = 
this is sweet
I am MYSTIFIED why this broken, non-working, malfunctioning, inoperative (do I need to go on?), software is so widely advertised. Take heed- this software does NOT work and you get to pay for the privelage to find out for yourself. Sure… it’s only 5 bucks… but fraud is fraud. With sites such as MacAppr pumping this piece of C***.. I’m sure someone is getting very rich without supplying any useful service in return.
