Switcher’s Giveaway Honorable Mentions III: The Indie Mac Developer
All this week we have been showing 3 of our most enjoyed Switcher’s Contest entries and today is the last and final one. All 3 entries have already won a t-shirt of their choice from Insanely Great Tees, as well as the chance to win $100. Very shortly we will be running a poll to allow the readers to vote for the $100 prize winner, so watch for that very soon.
So far I think you guys have enjoyed the entries from our Switcher’s Contest and today should be no exception.
Joe Goh is the developer of FunkeeStory, a full featured SMS/MMS backup app for your Treo. According to Joe his entry came from the heart and is aptly titled Switching to the Mac to be an Indie Mac Developer, which is a bittersweet true story in 15 slides. Download the PDF right here.
Watch for the poll to choose the winner of the $100 consolation contest to be posted very soon, and thanks again to everyone who submitted entries

Thanks for picking my entry Miles! This entry also marks a few more firsts for me:
1) First time i’m using Keynote to create anything. If this PDF looks hideous to you – I hope that explains why.
2) First time the new application icon that Fernando Lins (http://www.devixdesign.com/) created for me is seen by the general public. It was due to be used for the next release of FunkeeStory (version 1.1), but because I couldn’t complete it in time, you get to see the icon here first, and not on my own site. Hope everyone likes the new icon! If not, please shout out.
Enjoy reading it – and please support the indie developers!
Wow, that was really great and very different from everything we have seen so far. Very interesting to look at the other side of the software. Great work !
Your App seems to be pretty cool as well. If I had a Treo this would be an app I’d really like to have.

@Joe: I think the creativity that went into expressing yourself really showed here.
Keep up the great work!
[...] A few weeks ago, I submitted my story on why I switched to the Mac for entry to a contest. Though I didn’t win first prize, my entry did however get selected as an honourable mention.
