Previously I used GrowlTunes, which works well if all you want is notifications of track changes, but doesn't do much of anything else, and it certainly doesn't feature Last.FM integration. I haven't used GST so I can't really comment on it, but CS is slick and nicely done, so I'm really tempted to pay for a license for the newer version.
