Menuet and Art Collecter: Now Charityware
Maybe you have heard of Menuet and Art Collector from Specere Software. Menuet is a neat iTunes controller located in the menubar, with different themes that you can choose from, and Art Collector (bundled with Menuet) fetches your album artwork from Amazon, a feature which is now found in iTunes, but could still be useful for those pesky albums that iTunes doesn’t find the artwork for.
Menuet used to be $13, while Art Collector was $8, but the developers just released them as Charityware. Charityware (or Careware) means that it’s free to use, but the developers requests that you donate to a charity listed on the site, or if you can’t, help out at a local charity, or volunteer some of your time.
The inspiration to do this came from the help that creating the apps gave them, starting in high school. They say that it helped them do something different then work at a burger joint, and taught them important lessons on design, business, and the troubles of dealing with both honest and dishonest people.
I encourage you to try out the apps, I’ve used Menuet for a while, and while you’re at it donate to one of the charities on their website.

While I think it’s great that Menuet and Art Collector have become charityware, I just don’t see the point in slowing down boot time and utilizing memory for an iTunes controller…
I agree.. and now I can’t work out how to un-install the bloody thing.
I’ve used AppZapper several times and it’s still there!
Menuet & Art Collector Now Free
Recently Specere Software released both of their apps (Menuet and Art Collector), totally free. All they are asking is that you make a donation to one of their partnered charities. Pretty sweet right! Well don’t wait any longer and get your down…
