Neurovascular Surgeon Saves Lives Via iPhone
Since the arrival of Apple’s stylish iPhone, every user has found some kind of unique & creative way to make their iPhone more convenient. According to the Wall Street Journal, Robert Singer, a neurovascular surgeon, did just that. He alleges that last month he wouldn’t have had performed the right operation on the patient if it wasn’t for his iPhone; to reiterate, the guy would have died.
Now don’t get too excited thinking he used the iPhone as a substitute for one of the fancy whatchamacallits brain surgeons use, but in a way you could say it was similar.
Mr. Singer accesses the electronic medical records of his patients through the Safari application, which was impossible on his former “best-bud”, the Blackberry Pearl. No offence to Blackberry, but Apple provides better Internet on its phones. Back to Robert Singer, by looking at the more updated record just prior to the surgery he was able to change it and save a life. Bravo!
He reports that, last month, he changed how he performed some surgery after viewing the patient’s medical records which had changed that day, just prior to the operation.
Dr. Singer actually bought the iPhone because it looked fun and he wanted to fool around with it, but it turned serious after his 450 annual operations improved thanks to the iPhone! Tell us if you have experienced some bizarre moment with your stylish new little friend.

well not bizzare but me an one o my cuousins didnt know exactly where dere was a tgi fridays nearby an soo i whipped out my iphone went to google Maps typed in tgi fridays and voila we had directions the number and everything we needed. It may not have saved my life or others but…it saved my hunger…lol true story.
I’m not sure how he can say his iPhone improves all of his operations as it hasn’t been out that long yet. I also would expect my doctors to check my medical records for updates before a surgery even if they did not have the convenience of an iPhone…
Hmm good point. But what if your records just got updated seconds before the operation and the doctor was just about to go in. In that case, the iPhone can become really handy. Also, he probably meant that now he can use the iPhone to better all his up-coming ones.
