DeskLickr: Flickr For Your Desktop

DeskLickr IconIf you prefer having an ever-changing desktop wallpaper, looking for new images can get really annoying. DeskLickr from Aaron Wallis solves this problem by interfacing with the photo sharing website Flickr; it automatically downloads and displays new desktop images.

DeskLickr can grab a variety of photos from Flickr for your desktop. You can choose to get your images from the DeskLickr group, Flickr’s “interestingness” photos, a tag search, or even your very own photo stream, favorites, or groups. You have the option to choose a random image or the latest image as well as the frequency of desktop change. The program will even show you a window with information about your current picture.

If you like to keep your desktop image fresh, I recommend you try out DeskLickr. DeskLickr is freeware, but Aaron asks for donations if you find the program useful.

Typeset is so close to being the prefect solution, it may eventually evolve into such. Particularly lacking from Typeset’s features are three things. Typeset’s font properties lacks the “Description” category that is available in Font Book. This isn’t a serious offense but will drive me to have to go back to Font Book when I want to see the font creators comments about a given font. The lack of font validation in Typeset again could drive some more hardcore users back to Font Book. Finally, and simple enough to fix, Typeset has no “Reveal Font in Finder” option, something I find myself using fairly often. http://friv-games.de.tl/
