Overflow 2.5 Released with Several New Features
I noticed our friends from Stunt Software in Winnipeg have just put the finishing touches on Overflow 2.5 today. Overflow is the popular launcher application which we recently reviewed. According to the Dan Messing at Stunt this release is a major new version and heralds in several often asked for features, requested by users (both here and elsewhere).
Overflow really is an elegant, easy to use launcher for Mac OS X. It’s a great solution for those who want an uncluttered dock but still want easy access to must have apps. The major new features are - right after the jump.
- Dragging a file over Overflow’s dock icon now instantly opens the Overflow window to allow the file to be dropped on an application or folder contained in Overflow, making it an even more natural extension to the dock.
- The Overflow dock icon can now be hidden and replaced by a status menu item.
- The Overflow window can now be automatically positioned under the mouse when the hotkey is pressed.
- Items in Overflow can now be assigned custom names.

Full 2.5 release notes here. You can see a video overview of Overflow here.
The release is of course free for all paid Overflow customers. New customers can purchase Overflow 2.5 (Universal) from Stunt Software for $14.95, or check out the trialware.

I really REALLY like Overflow, and have used it for many months.
And the developer is incredibly responsive and offers terrific support. I’ve asked for several new features, and they’re all in the new version! I found a bug in this new version and he already fixed it TODAY, just hours after the release.
The pictured interface is completely different from the Overflow interface on my system (10.4.10). You must have a category displayed at all times. There is no way to not have a category displayed. If you know of a way to accomplish this, please email me at macdeviant1957 at gmail dot com.
