coconutBattery: Give Your Battery a Check-Up

coconutBatteryLaptop users are always worried about the health of their batteries. I have had experiences with batteries going bad, and I would have not noticed it as soon if I didn’t monitor my battery’s status. coconutBattery from coconut-flavour allows you to do just that. It shows your current battery charge, current maximum capacity, and the original maximum capacity, so you can see how much your battery has degraded. You can also see the number of battery-loadcycles, charger status (it will alert you if you are using the wrong charger) and the age of your Mac.

coconutBattery WidgetAs you can see, you can also store your current battery information so you can track how quickly your battery is degrading. A new feature to coconutBattery is the addition of a widget. The widget allows you to quickly access the age of your Mac, battery-loadcycles, and current maximum capacity on your dashboard.

If you want to keep track of your battery’s health, coconutBattery is the way to do it. As I said, it has helped me diagnose battery troubles before they became a big problem, and allowed me to get replacements under my AppleCare warranty. coconutBattery is freeware and is available from coconut-flavour.
