Leopard Coverage: A Bit of Friendly Apple Vs Microsoft Humour
Leopard was released yesterday, with a few minor flaws which we reported earlier. However, on a day in which Apple has successfully managed to roll out a huge OS upgrade with so few flaws, a nice story appered via Digg.
On Thursday, not wanting to be outdone by Apple, Microsoft rolled out a nice, small update to the built in search tool, Windows Desktop Search 3.0.1. This has, apparently, caused many a Windows network to grind to a halt, when the small piece of software installed itself and started to index the PCs.
This all happening despite the fact that it was not installed in the first place and that the administrators thought that they had shut off the auto-update of the feature to prevent this. According to The Register, this is the second time in a month Microsoft has done something of this nature.

A couple of months ago, it was reported that there was a nice easter egg in the new Finder, where connected Windows PC’s icons were monitors featuring a Blue Screen of Death. Many of the developers believed this was just Apple having a bit of fun in the Beta’s. However, it is being reported, that this egg has actually survived!
So there you have it, a bit of Post-OS-Upgrade fun between our favorite software giants. Have you found any other little easter eggs in Leopard? Tell us in the comments below!

[...] Check it out! While looking through the blogosphere we stumbled on an interesting post today. Here’s a quick excerpt [...]
Haha I hadn’t seen the BSOD easter egg. Hilarious that it made it to Final! Are their others?
PCs at work often look like that. Art imitates life.
This one has been reported earlier, but I’ll post it anyway: Go to the finder and choose the Applications folder in coverflow view, and make the TextEdit icon really big, to reveal the text on the note, which incidentally, is the background speech in Apple’s original “Think Different” commercial.
@Arjun: Wow, you’re right! Nice one.
Vista should include an OS X kernel panic screen icon.
COMEON EVERYONE KNOWS THAT STEVE JOBS DEVELOPED APPLE ON WINDOWS 95 SO EVEN THE BSOD SURVIVED. NOW STEVE SHOW LESS SMUGNESS FROM THE NEXT TIME. STEVE IS TRYING TO PATENT THE MULTITOUCH TERM AND TECHNOLOGY EVEN THOUGH AN IIT DELHI GRADUATE HAD MADE THE FIRST MULTITOUCH INTERFACE WAY BACK IN 1971
APPLE HAS FALSE EGO
Haha! I found that easter egg yesterday trying to print from my Macbook on my school’s network! I looked and I noticed the Windows user’s biggest Nightmare: The BSOD!!! LMAO!
