Cha-Ching 1.1.2 Out: Leopard Support & More
Yesterday MidnightApps released the 1.1.2 version of Cha-Ching which brings long awaited Leopard support and a lot of bug fixes to its popular persnoal finances app.
So now Cha-Ching runs properly on Leopard and the transition between the 1.1.1 version and the 1.1.2 doesn’t cause any trouble (at least, I didn’t see any problem but backup your database which is in your Application Support folder if you’re paranoid). The main developer, Juan Alvarez (featured in our WWDC video here), describes this version as a “big compatibility update”. Indeed, a lot of bugs affecting 1.1.1 on Leopard have been fixed.
This new version also brings a very handy feature in Local Backup. Now you don’t need to have a .mac account or to find files in the Finder to keep your data safe. Just go to the File menu, then Backup > Local and you have the choice between export or import a database.
Finally this version adds changes to the icon – the coins have MidnightApps’ logo (a moon) on them, and the icon is available in 512×512. Delicious.
The developer also mentioned the fact that the next release will be 2.0, but he wanted to keep the new features secret. Maybe we’ll get lucky and Juan will leak some tidbits here or other places in the coming weeks.
For now Cha-Ching is available at MidnightApps’ website, costs $40 and a 15 -days demo is available to see if it is for you.

Not sure where you got this info, but it’s not correct. 1.1.2 is in beta testing and has NOT been released yet.
There is also a typo in the first sentence (persnoal).
Finally, Matthew seemed quite surprised by this article. Did you bother talking to MA or verifying facts before posting this?
It has been released, just go to http://midnightapps.com/ and you’ll see that when you click on the “Download demo” button, you’ll have 1.1.2.
And yes I did talk to MA before posting this : I talked to Juan Alvarez and he told me the details of this release.
Huh. You’re certainly right about the download link.
If you check in the MA forums, the other MA guy doesn’t seem to be aware of where this article came from. That’s obviously not your problem though, so sorry for my wrong statements above.
Also note that the forums indicate more to come Monday – and your screenshot above does not represent the new version fully (at least as far as I can tell).
Thanks for the response.
Be sure you check out Cha Ching BEFORE you buy it. I made the mistake of leaping into it. My mistake. Forty bucks later, I have a program that looks pretty, crashes when I open my bank’s home page, can’t import transactions, doesn’t understand how to do a split transaction, and lacks even a running total balance.
