CandyBar 3 Released: Now With Pixadex Goodness

Long-awaited CandyBar 3 has just been released by Panic. Not only does this version bring Leopard support, but it also adds a lot of new features to the application.

For example, you can now customize the Dock. Another big move is that since Pixadex (a software to manage your icons) and Candybar are merged, you can more functionality in a single application.

CandyBar is an application that lets you customize your system icons like the folders, the trash, the drives… Pixadex was an application to organize and browse your icon library. By fusing both applications together, you can not only customize your icons, but also manage them in the same application, which is very handy. In the process of merging those two great apps, Panic Inc decided to change its user interface.

CandyBar also supports 512×512 icons, and the possibility to customize the dock, which is an awesome feature to me, as I’m not fond of the default dock style. You’ll also notice that the speed and smart collections have been improved. This version brings Quick Look support; you can now preview iContainers in the Finder. CandyBar 3 also includes a built-in icon set called Float.

CandyBar costs $29 for new buyers; $24 for owners of Pixadex 2 or CandyBar 2 and $19 for owners of both Pixadex 2 and CandyBar 2. Check out the 15-days/250-icon limit trial version from Panic Inc.

CandyBar 3 looks and feels so much nicer than the Tiger version. I can’t wait to see more completely redesigned apps, that utilize Core Animation, and are Leopard-only.
