Dude, reading the same word spelt wrong over and over again is painful!

It's "device", not "devise" ("devise" also exists, but means something completely different... make use of that new Leopard dictionary!)

Scott, VisualHub is nice but you know, if you have cca 15 HD 7GB movies on your disk, you don't wan't to convert each one of them just to be able to watch them via AppleTV (it takes a lot of time, not to mention not everybody has a workstation ;) ). So that's why additional codecs would be great. Anyhow, I'd like to say that VisualHub is not that ultimate. What I mean is that eg. MPEG Streamclip can do exactly the same job as VisualHub and a bit extra and, unlike VisualHub, it's free. Maybe you could write about alternatives as well ;)

Downloaded it last night. LOVE it. Makes Apple TV worthwhile and really useful now, rather than just an ipod attached to the TV. They nailed it. The main menu user interface could be a bit more 'pretty' other than that, it is exactly as advertised.

I will consider buying one of these when Movie rentals come to the UK, if Apple manage to avoid there usual pricing trick of changing that $ sign into a £ one, without changing any numbers (e.g. music videos are £1.89 here - thats $3.73!!!)

Dex, turns out AppleTV T2 will up-convert to 1080p from 720p. From what I've read elsewhere, the quality is pretty good. 1080p is really only noticeable on screens larger than 56" (apparently).

I too would love to see Apple support additional codecs, but I get around this today using VisualHub, from Techspansion, to convert just about any other format for AppleTV and iPod. Maybe I should write a piece on the recent updates to VisualHub.

I would love AppleTV to have an ability to play 1080p movies and supported much more codecs and containers. Eg. if it supported Matroska files I would have bought it immidiately. As I see it, this is the only bad point about it. Although larger drives wouldn't hurt anyone ;)
