Simple Batch Resizing for your Pictures.

Resize! LogoHave you have ever wanted to share a group of your really good photos, but your pictures were too big to post to your favorite photo sharing site? When I shoot 150 - 200 photos on a trip with my DSLR, family and friends always want a copy of what I am shooting.  That started my search for a free and simple way to crunch my photos, fast! I stumbled upon KStudio’s Resize!, a batch image resize program that resizes your images to various parameters. Resize! does a great job of saving time when uploading or burning the photos that you want to share.  I could fire up my Photoshop Elements (or the Creative Suite version of Photoshop) and Aperture application to resize photos, but Resize! really makes that unnecessary. The program’s interface is simple while still providing robust options.

Resize! batch resizing capabilities allow you to do proportional resizing for images.  To me this is especially great for the times you are trying to stay within a certain pixel parameter.  Depending on the dimension, in some of the other programs, it could take a little bit of tinkering to arrive at a desired dimension. In this program you can set a desired “Biggest (pixel)” option, regardless to which dimension of picture is the largest, it will be no larger than your “Biggest (pixel) number that you choose.  This is especially great for posting pictures to blogs.  When you are ready to batch resize your photos, you select the desired folder in the Finder, and hit Go!  This will create a duplicate folder under the same directory as your original, with the settings you applied in the program.  It’s just that easy. Again, this program is a wonder if you want to burn a quick CD with smaller file sizes or upload photos to sites like Picasa, Flickr, and Photo bucket.  I know there other good programs such as Resize ‘em All and Pixelmator, but I think the simplicity of Resize! beats them all.  Please do not let the look of the developer’s site of this great freeware fool you into thinking this software is subpar. Resize! can be downloaded for free from the developers website.

Is anyone else having trouble opening the downloaded file for Resize!? It has a weird extension (.sit) that my stuffit expander doesn’t recognize.

    I hope it’s not just me. :)

Stuffit Expander should be able recognize the SIT extension without problem. Actually I believe it was Stuff-It who created the extension in the first place. If you’re having issues, you might want to download and install the latest version of the expander and see if that helps.
