I’m puzzled and disappointed by the decision to price this (formerly FREE) application at $26. $5 I would have paid, gladly. $10 would be pushing it a bit, but I’d still pay; Renamer4Mac is useful, after all. But $26? Forget it! I don’t know where he got that number. He’s free to charge what he likes for his work, but I’m free to say no. I’ll keep using (the FREE) version 2.8 as long as it works.

I don’t have any experience with the applications mentioned in this article, but I would like to mention that I’ve been using “A Better Finder Rename” (www.publicspace.net) for years and have always been happy with this solution. It has a very flexible set of options for renaming files and is straight forward to use. This application also allow you to create “Droplets”, stand-alone applications the perform common renaming tasks. The only downside is the price – it retails for about â‚¬24.95 or about US$38 – quite a jump from US$20 I paid to register about two years ago.
