Seriously — why should I install yet another piece of software that attempts to violate my personal privacy if it’s a one-trick pony? Heck, if the IT staff at the Times can’t be bothered to learn Cocoa, Flash, Java, AIR, or to make an app that works also on the iPhone SDK, why even bother? Can some explanation of the reasoning on Silverlight be forthcoming? The Silverlight website is, in a few words, "droll in a whorish club dress". So, here’s my brief comment in the NYT blog:

Why Silverlight?

I'm no fan of it. What's the point of creating a new competitor to Flash that doesn't even sound nice? I don't want to have to install any additional things to run an app. And as long as Silverlight isn't included on new Macs, I won't consider installing it. Real pity about Silverlight.
