Hey I have worked on Little Snapper and Skitch. But there is another application worth mentioning and that is Voila. It is a great app. Helps me a lot in my field of work. Makes capturing screen shots a breeze. Love their new version with the awesome organizer and multiple DOM capturing ability

Voila 2.0 does indeed look good but they’ve got a tough road to walk with so many good choices. I got both LittleSnapper and Layers for a song so I’m well covered in the area of screen grab areas. If Voila wants to get some marketshare their going to have to participate in a software bundle of some sort.

Guys, I felt current version of Voila i.e. 2.0 is a much more polished tool than Little Snapper. definitely check it out and give it a thought before purchasing Little Snapper. Voila is much more user friendly and feature rich application. Its a great capturing and annotating tool. I love their concept of taking multiple screenshots at the same time. Its more than steal at the same price…

I got LittleSnapper in my MacHeist bundle and it’s alot more powerful than Mac OS X’s Grab.app and I don’t have to hold down control+command+shift+4 inorder to capture the whole screen and I can upload directly to QuickSnapper.

I wouldn’t have got this if it was $40 dollars since it’s a little pricy compared to other options. Overall, it’s a promising program…

Most of my screenshots I need in mails. So one shortcut for taking the screenshot and automatically put it into a new mail would be nice. It is possible in SnapzPro for example.
At this moment, much too expensive …. sorry.

Littlesnapper is quite good, but has plenty of room for improvement in terms of both UI and interaction. Skitch is currently free and it’s my main screengrabber app of choice. At $40 (£28.63), LittleSnapper is much too expensive, I’d probably pay £7 for this ($10), but no more.

Although LS is a screen snap app it’s so much more: cataloging, organizing, sharing, full webpage snaps, etc.) To the person that needs to take plenty of screen snaps (web developers, product manual writers, tutorial writers, etc.), keep them organized and be able to share them $40 is a steal.

LS is a version 1 app and no doubt will grow in power and features and ultimately I think will easily eclipse Skitch. Don’t get me wrong, Skitch is a fine app and I’ve been using it for some time but LS is more powerful for what I need. Also, who knows how long Skitch will be free? It’s still currently in beta.

LS might not be for casual screen snappers but it sure fits the bill for those with more demanding needs.

I haven’t purchased LittleSnapper yet but I’m going to. I understand the $40 price because Quicksnapper.com is free only because the price is covered in that $40 LS fee.

I’ve seen the Skitch videos and it looks like a wonderful product but it’s just a wee bit too busy UI wise for me. I like the look of LS and the way it works. I keep the beta open in the dock ready to snap a pic.

I think LS and Quicksnapper make a lot of sense for people that love saving web based pics and more. There are so many pictures that I like to keep but I don’t want them in my iPhoto and I really don’t want them coming up in Spotlight searches.

Hopefully I’ll be able to segregate my websnaps from the rest of my system and have a nice way to access them with LS and tagging. eBay fans should love being able to use Quicksnapper.com to host files for their items on sale. Designers and photogs should love LS for the Flickr support as well.

Well done Realmac. For version 2 keep it uncluttered and looking good.

Skitch = $Currently Free
LittleSnapper = $40

I was in the Littlesnapper beta, and I loved it. But It’s not worth $40 to me. I’d gladly pay $20-25, but its outrageous right now.

Hi Jack

Thanks for the review. Just like to point out that you can, in fact, fill shapes in Edit mode. Simply select the shape in question and go to the Layers menu -> Style menu and choose either Stroke or Fill.
