I agree with you guys that there are free ones, and these are not worth it to some. But, I think I made it clear that I wasn't telling people to buy these if they didn't ski. I think these can be worth it for skiers though.

I'll check out the North Face one.

I agree with Kevin, with free apps out there doing the same job...if not better...I think they deserve some press.

The REI Ski and Snow Report offers an easy interface for those only needing to keep information on 3 resorts (how many people regularly ski more than 3 anyway?) Webcams are cool too.

The TNF Snow Report is a simple interface as well and gets the job done. A little prone to crashing, but the trail maps are nice when they are of high enough quality.

You could have at least reviewed the free ones like Colorado Snow Report (limited to CO unfortunately) or REI's Snow Report (limited to 3 summaries + the Shop REI image). If you're like me and live in Colorado, you might only care about a couple of resorts, so both of these work well enough. However, it would be nice if they provided more information before sending you off to a website.

I just downloaded The North Face's free ski report app and I think I'll get rid of the others as this one is by far the best I've seen. To add applications you can search by resort name or state (and probably more...) and then bulk add to your favorites. You can access trail maps, though the map doesn't always zoom enough to read the trail and lift names. A simple swipe navigates between your favorites.

There is no way I would ever pay for such an application. For starters, the app is entirely too simple. Second, there are multiple free ones, and you can always easily hit the website.

The bloggers and the media really need to start encouraging apps above the bare minimum, especially if money is changing hands.
