Just realized that you can download past puzzles in 'Crosswords'. Made a mistake in my earlier post. However, I still wish it would allow opening of .puz files i already have on my computer. I have a bunch of old crosswords on my computer. I want to transfer them to the application an open them there. Hope this feature is added in the future.

For the Mac, I suggest Black Ink, by Red Sweater software. We actually have a review of it: http://macapper.com/2008/07/10/black-ink-crossword-puzzles-without-the-ink/

Except, the images seem to be gone :O

Cool apps, but I'm one of those frustrated guys that don't have an iphone or ipod touch. So I humbly request a post about similar apps for the mac. I know there are several out there... but it would be great to read here about those that you consider more interesting, the opinions in MacApper are always worthy. (Worthier than mine, thats for sure XD)

Anyway, thanks, this page is great.

Some comments about both apps -
'Crosswords' also has a split view - simply turn the iphone/ipod touch to landscape mode. List of clues takes up the right portion of the screen. Like 2 across, 'Crosswords' also has a full screen view - you can swipe down the keyboard to hide it.
'Crosswords' has a missing feature (present in '2 across'), and that is it does not mark the letters that have been checked. It only marks the revealed ones. Almost all crossword apps for mac/pc show a small icon or triangle on the edge of the box to denote 'revealed' and 'checked' boxes in different colors. (Personally, I also have a minor quibble that the 'revealed' mark is a black triangle; it gets camouflaged among the black squares. It should have been a red triangle).

I find 'Crosswords' to be marginally better because of the various views. However, you cannot download past puzzles. Being able to download past puzzles is a great feature in '2 across'.
Both programs do not allow transferring of .puz files from my computer to the application (can do that on my windows mobile phone). There should be a way to sync it from the computer.

Overall, both programs have a lot of features lacking. I'm hoping that the developers continue evolving the applications.
