My thought is that they simply don’t want people buying the original so they can sell more copies of Rolando 2. If I’d never played either game and had the choice between the cheap original and the more expensive sequel, I’d definitely take the cheaper one. With all the studies that show people buy apps and then quickly move on, they probably don’t want to take a chance with people buying one and moving on. They did the same thing with Topple. Once Topple 2 came out, the original “mysteriously” vanished.

I hate that many developers just develop the next version of their software as separate application. Why don’t they just make it the same application with different version number? I know they won’t get more money with the way AppStore work right now, but if this continues… I’d thinking more than 1000 times before buying any application.
