why the helldoes iTunes not have a simple way of removing duplicates anyway, complete lack of foresight. and a pain in the neck - it's happy to add duplicates everytime I connect any device. grr

I am subscribed to get all of these emails. I got screwed myself about months ago. The interesting and most perplexing thing about all of this is, there is no one- absolutely no one- to turn to. You can't call the CEO of this bunch of crooks; each of the states Attorney's General would probably be the place to start. You can't do a class-action law suit because the process of suing on the Internet is probably one step more complicated than trying to sue the spammers who flood your mail with junk every day. It's kind of depressing. Maybe if everyone who got bilked by this company would post something on Facebook, eventually these Pigs would be shut down. They certainly can probably afford the best lawyers by now. Unbelievable. I am kind of tired of reading all these comments from people like myself who have been robbed by this company. It is so sad. The Tune-up Tricksters have figured out how to beat the system and have taken me- and all of you reading this- straight to the cleaners. They are probably all in Boca Raton as I type this, drinking dirty martinis and laughing.

THERE IS A FIX: I thought I was in the same boat as all of you. But I encountered a problem on another program. If you have Windows 7 and having this problem try this first:

Begin by determining whether your Windows 7/Vista system is 32 bit or 64 bit:

Click Start.
Right-click Computer and choose Properties.
In the View Basic Information About Your Computer window, look for "32 bit" or "64 bit" next to System Type.
Then follow the instructions in the section below for your system type.

Windows 7/Vista/XP (32 bit)
1. Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.

2. Right-click Command Prompt, choose Run As Administrator, and authenticate. If the prompt reads C:\Windows\System32>, then proceed to step 4.

3.Oherwise, type the following command exactly as it appears below, including the quotation marks, and then press Enter: cd "%systemroot%\System32" Then continue to step 4.

4. At the prompt, type regsvr32 jscript.dll and press Enter.
When a dialog box with the message "DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll succeeded" appears, click OK.

5. Then type regsvr32 vbscript.dll and press Enter.
When a dialog box with the message "DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll succeeded" appears, click OK.

Windows 7/Vista (64 bit)

Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.
1. Right-click Command Prompt, choose Run As Administrator, and authenticate.

2. If the prompt reads C:\Windows\SysWow64>, then proceed to Step 4.

3. Otherwise, type the following command exactly as it appears below, including the quotation marks, and then press Enter:
cd "%systemroot%\SysWow64" Then continue to step 4.

THIS WORKED FOR ME. ALL MY DUPES WERE MOVED!!!!

The premise of this program is good but do not waste your time with it if your music collection is not very mainstream. Classical music - a disaster. I had many classical tracks renamed with rappers titles. WTF? I wasted far too much time trying to get it to run on a library of 10,000+ tracks and when it finally did it ruined it. I had to restore the library and write this POS off as a waste of money. Now doing a google search of "tidysongs review" I see all these supposed review sites that are nothing more than ads for the program. That should have been a tipoff right there. Live and learn...

This software does not work as advertised, and their customer support stopped abruptly. No email replies, nothing. It does not work if you have a large itunes library. I have about 20,000 songs, which is why I bought this software. After it fixes about 5007 songs, it stops and will go no further. It will not recognize playlists you have set up in itunes (I tried to fix blocks of 3000 songs at a time using this but it doesn't recognize my playlists at all). I finally called Clickbank for a refund today, and they said my $42.46 will be back in my account in 3 days. Very disappointing software. The "reviews" I saw before buying it always had a link to buy the software on them, that should have been my first tipoff that they were not legit. I think this company put more effort into a positive online presence than getting their software to do what they claim. Don't buy it, you will be disappointed and waste a lot of time figuring out it doesn't work.

Charles - if you can get more people to agree, I'm in. A class action sounds about right at this point. It would be nice to finally send an appropriate message since NOTHING else seems to be worthy of a response from Tidy Songs. Perhaps being sued will get them to wake up and actually respond to emails and problem tickets.

Who wants to start a formal class-action suit against these guys? Let me know and I'm in.
Also, anyone who got ripped off and wants to pursue this should try contacting Apple iTunes and send the app section a few hundred of these complaints.

Like many on here... if only I'd found this site earlier!

Anyway, I've spent the $39, wasted time, watched TidySongs pretend to work and VOILA! NADA!

TidySongs doesn't tidy up... it just lets you see it feather dusting. But one thing it does clean out really, really well... is your wallet.

DO NOT BUY THIS GIMMICK. They've done a sterling job of pushing out their very own publicity.... but look at the bottom of the tin... and you'll find a product that's devoid of substance, instructions and support.

Did anyone else have the problem with TidySongs where it messed up the album art? On my ipod, all the album art is wrong, and I can't manually change it. Even when I change it to the correct art in Itunes, it stays with the random art in the Ipod. Anyone know how to correct that?

I posted this on December 19th 2010 nad no reply.

I am not happy with tidy song either. I spent $39 expecting to clean up my itunes, but have problem after problem. It has taken songs off of albums, given them different names, and put them onto other albums by different artists. I would not recommend this application to anyone, and may as well thrown my $39 down the toilet. I have only a small library of about 45 gigabyte (6500 songs) so not a big task.
Now i have to reset everything.

NOT HAPPY.

@Philip: If Kelly gets back to you and agrees that the problem cannot be fixed, he will issue the refund. Good Luck! What was your problem with Tidy Songs?

I purchased Tidy Songs a little over a month ago, and have had nothing but problems since the second I purchased it.

First: The duplicates application works, but only to find ALL the duplicates on your I-tunes and then place them all in a separate folder on your desktop. Read this closely: If you delete that folder, ALL the versions of that duplicate disappear. Meaning, instead of having a clean version of I-tunes with ONE copy of each of your songs, you have no lost ALL the songs that there were any duplicate copies of. What's the point of that? For that, I might as well go in and delete them one by one in I-tunes.

Second problem: Tidy songs struggled to "locate my I-tunes library" to continue fixing my songs, to the point that even troubleshooters on the team could not fix it, and refunded my money. That was all fine, I guess, although I was bummed that the program had a bug they couldn't fix and that I was left without a clean library. But here's where it gets really bad. The 85% or so my my I-tunes library that it HAD managed to fix before the bug, was INCORRECTLY fixed. When I emailed Kelly at I-tunes to have this reversed, she gave me the simple way to UNDO FIXED songs. Again, this feature DID NOT WORK for the "bug" version I have and paid full price for. So I emailed Kelly again, frantic at this point, begging for help with what was increasingly becoming i-tunes library hell with double the duplicate songs I started out with, and over 2000 incorrectly fixed songs. No reply. We are now 9 days into this process, and I have emailed her every day asking for more specific support (phone support) than simply the generic answers that CLEARLY do not solve my specific issues, and I never get a sufficient answer from her, other than to retry undo fix songs, which I have clearly explained does not work.

I'm glad so many other people have been happy with Tidy Songs, but I'm starting to think many of these reviews have been written by people on the Tidy Songs team. My issues with Tidy songs have STILL NOT been resolved. The refund is secondary - because as a result of downloading this program, it has effectively destroyed my i-tunes library, with no one getting back to me for help or support, My library back to its original state is worth MUCH MORE than the refund. The point of this program is to save hours cleaning your library. It now looks like instead, I paid to have my library thoroughly messed up, only to have to spend DAYS cleaning it up because of Tidy Songs.

There have been some rumors going about that Apple has pulled AirPrint from the final release of iOS 4.2. Apparently, a rumor came about yesterday claiming that Apple has axed the feature from the iOS 4.2 final release because of some unforeseen circumstances. Distraught by the speculated exemption of the features, a customer decided to shoot Steve Jobs a letter about it to get a further understanding of the matter. Steve replied saying that AirPrint has not been cut from the final version of the anticipated software update.

I wish I'd found this site before purchasing TidySongs. It cleared whole albums which were NOT duplicates, attached numbers to the file names, and there's no "undo" function for putting the duplicates back into place. (Kelly at TS said to try dragging the duplicates folder back into my iTunes to see if that would work. What? You don't know what will happen and it's your program?) Dragging them back at one time is a no-go. Now I've got to redo my entire library (about 20 GB) by hand. I've asked for my money to be refunded, but I figure it's a lost cause. Steer clear of this app.

"IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE...."

Thanks to all who have posted on this site. I was about to pop off forty dollars for this program and second guessed my decision. Apparently, a wise choice.

I realized an overwhelmingly large number of positive reviews came from tidysongs or their affiliates. Something didn't seem quite right about that.

The basic complaints aimed at tidysongs on this post have remained virtually unchanged for an entire year--that alone is enough for me to wait until this program has been evaluated from CNET, PC World, PCMag or another independent programming review company.

Tidysongs may be a very good program but until I'm able to find much more reliable evidence, I am unwilling to spend 39 dollars on a product that MAY or may NOT work as advertised. My income is NOT disposable and I need to make every cent count.

I'm sure a fertilizer salesman would try to convince me that poop sandwiches were not only nutritional but tasted good as well.

I believe I'm going to pass on that sandwich.
