Opera Turns-In Opera Mini To The App Store Review Group
If you haven’t already heard, Opera announced that they have sent the Opera Mini 5browser for approval on the App Store. The company has mentioned the development of the software on the iPhone, giving a demonstration of the browser last month in its pre-finished condition. They posted a video on YouTube featuring the speed of the Opera web browser next to Safari on the iPhone with the software performing six times faster than its competitor. The boost in speed is accomplished through server-side rendering which sends compressed versions of webpages to dramatically lighten the rendering workload of a site up to 90%, ultimately concluding in more Web per MB for the user of the iPhone.
Due to server-side rendering, Opera Mini compresses data by up to 90 percent before sending it to the phone, resulting in rapid page loading and more Web per MB for the end user.
Server-side processing falls under Apples development restrictions for the iPhone as 3rd-party coding. Basically what Opera is doing is they are sending webpage information to the iPhone OS as static pages that are in a compressed format that uses less data to process than processing the contents of the actual webpage.

In accordance to the app submission, Opera has constructed a page that displays a timer for when Apple will give word on the applications approval. They even made a contest out of it, furthermore, offering a new iPhone 3GS to whoever guesses a time closet to the time it took Apple to give approval notice.

I am Curious to Have this
There have been some rumors going about that Apple has pulled AirPrint from the final release of iOS 4.2. Apparently, a rumor came about yesterday claiming that Apple has axed the feature from the iOS 4.2 final release because of some unforeseen circumstances. Distraught by the speculated exemption of the features, a customer decided to shoot Steve Jobs a letter about it to get a further understanding of the matter. Steve replied saying that AirPrint has not been cut from the final version of the anticipated software update.
