More Hints of iWork Coming to iPhone?

Before the iPhone 4 debut, Apple showcased the new iOS 4 operating system with it’s vast amount of new features for both the consumer and the developer. One of the many features that were mentioned was the ability to open attachments from Mail in third-party applications, such as Omnigraph. In one of the functions’ preview graphics, there was an option to open an attachment in “Keynote,” Apple’s presentation building software. Many have debated that the graphic was a mistake while others say that it allowed a peak at what Apple is planning to do with the software.

Amazon Includes Audio and Video in Kindle App for iOS

Amazon has updated their Kindle for iOS application this week. With the new update, the company now enables the ability for users to listen to audio content as well as watch video material that content on the Amazon book catalog may contain. The update is exclusive to the iOS and is not assessable on the companys dedicated Kindle device.

Some titles on the software that already contain the new content includes Rick Steves London by Rick Steves, Together We Cannot Fail by Terry Golway the classic Les Miserables and even for Dummies collection of how-to books. Google Activating Kill Switch On Apps, Receives Scrutiny

Google has been the subject of plenty finger-pointing lately as result to the company policing a few applications on its Android Marketplace. The company this past week activated a kill switch on two specific applications that were seemingly designed for promotional purposes. While Google said that these apps werent design to be malicious, they were in fact projecting misleading information to influence more downloads of the software. It was then declared that the situation was a theoretical example of how to develop a method the spread malevolent software and create a botnet of hijacked mobile devices among the Android system. Apple has revealed in the past that they have the same kill switch-like ability for their platform, which received much attention despite the company never actually activating the function for any of the over 230,000 applications of the App Store stretching to this day. However, Google has garnered heat of the situation being that the company has always marketed their alternative to their competitors as completely open.

Apple Rebranding Mac OS X to Make a Unified “iOS” String of Software?

The folks over at HardMac have gotten word that Apple might be planning to renamed their highly acclaimed Mac OS X computer software. Apple is speculated to plan to add Mac OS X and iOS, which is based off of Mac OS X, and label all the software iOS, implying that their software is scalable from the desktop/notebook, tablet and handset computer.

“They are currently thinking of using iOS as the default naming/branding of Apple OS. We would then have iOS desktop, iOS server and iOS mobile. The final decision is not taken yet, however, the proposal seems to be well supported by the high management, it would give a better exposure and unity to Apple OS platforms while making communication easier.”

Apple Includes Textual Emoji Input On Japanese Keyboard

Seems like Apple has fulfilled a request from the Japanese iOS world by implementing what sources have called official Emoji input accessible through the Romanji Japanese keyboard. Unlike the graphical emoticons that we see in the iOS, Apple has given several bunches of textual interpretations of emoticons in which the library can be activated by going to the keyboards secondary set of keys and taping the ^_^ key. Swype Plans On Talking With Apple

Swype, an organization that develops an unique kind of predictive typing technology most notably on mobile devices, plans in talking to Apple about weaving their software into the iOS fabric. The conceiver of the T9 technology for rapid text input that flooded standard mobile phones in 90s, Cliff Kushler, sat down the with the New York Times and gave more information on the companys goal.

“It does not have a deal with Apple, the king of touch-screen phones, but it is tinkering with software for the iPhone and the iPad and hopes to show it to Apple soon,” Cliff told NYT

The New MobileMe, Find My iPhone iOS App

On Thursday, Apple has gave notice to users of their MobileMe service on their MobileMe support page that the company will be deactivating the me.com login in order to apply scheduled maintenance. Information has been disclosed from select sources that the during the maintenance period Apple would roll out several new features to the service including the official launch of a new mail interface, which has currently been for the past month in public beta testing. In addition to that development, Cupertino would also be introducing push functionality in the Web-based mail client which will enable real-time updating of information as soon as it hits the MobileMe server.

iOS 4 has been released and the demand for the software was so overwhelming that it bogged Apples servers. However, if you have the update, congratulations. While we are sure you are familiar with all the major features of the OS, such as multitasking and folders, we are pretty sure you would be surprised at the other features flooding the new operating system.

iBooks is Available in the App Store for iPhone and iPod touch.

With the introduction of the new iOS 4 software update that has been the subject of topic on Twitter and Facebook, Apple has updated the iBooks application that was exclusively for the iPad to be universal with the other iDevices (the iPod touch and the iPhone to specific). Users can now download the application on the said devices and purchase books and view PDFs through the application.

Windows Live is Live in the App Store

There have been many spy shots of Microsofts Windows Live Messenger client coming to the iPhone circling throughout the Internet. Now those shots are made public for the world to see and use. Microsoft Windows Live Messenger is now available on the App Store, just in time for the iOS 4 software release.

MSN Messenger for the iPhone allows you to completely manipulate various aspects of your MSN Live account. You can send messages to people within the MSN network or to those of the Yahoo! Messenger nation. With the new multitasking approach Apple has implemented into the new OS, you can receive local and push notification from the client as updates are being made on the network.
