Apple Developing “Next Generation” Applications.

A recent job posting on apple.com suggest that the company is developing some new form of applications and are in process of looking for talent to add the their already vast roster of talented techies to join the club. If you are familiar with Apple like we are, they are very secretive about what they conduct in the labs in Cupertino. However, every now and then, they give a tiny inkling into what they are stirring up in the Apple pot.

The description of the job posting states that the big “A” is looking for a software engineer that will be collaborating with a group “tasked with creating the next generation application for manipulating media.” The developer will be specifically plugged in providing “new user interfaces” that allow “the user to manipulate content in new and exciting ways.”

As typically not providing any depth into what these inferfaces will be entailing and how the user will be interacting with the software, it does raise eyebrows into what Apple might be planning. Software is something that is sown into the very base of what Apple does effortlessly and primarily. Since the debut of the Mac back in 1984 pioneering the all-in-one design, GUI (graphical user interface) and mouse-and-window concept, user interface is something that Apple obsesses over down to the “T”. While the description of the job is rather vague (which is not surprising at all), people have been paying attention to the wording that Apple uses in the posting, more specifically the phrase “manipulating content in new and exciting ways” and “manipulating media.” Many people have associated the wording to the recently leaked Multi-Touch track-pad peripheral. The yet to be introduce technology could pay a major role in this new type  of software currently in the works.

There have been some rumors going about that Apple has pulled AirPrint from the final release of iOS 4.2. Apparently, a rumor came about yesterday claiming that Apple has axed the feature from the iOS 4.2 final release because of some unforeseen circumstances. Distraught by the speculated exemption of the features, a customer decided to shoot Steve Jobs a letter about it to get a further understanding of the matter. Steve replied saying that AirPrint has not been cut from the final version of the anticipated software update.
