Apple Job Description Gives Hint To “Amazing New Feature” In Mac OS 10.7

A new job posting on Apple’s website describes that the company is in the market for someone who wants to help develop a revolutionary new feature in the Mac OS software. Although the company keeps the wraps on what this feature is, they don’t hesitate to mention that the feature will indeed be revolutionary and dazzle the people who witness it.

“Are you looking to help create something new? Something that has never been done before and will truly amaze everyone? Are you excited by the prospect that what you helped create would be used every day by millions of Apple customers? Then come and work with us on the Mac OS X software engineering team to help build a new and revolutionary feature for Mac OS X.”

“We are looking for a senior software engineer to help us create a revolutionary new feature in the very foundations of Mac OS X. We have something truly revolutionary and really exciting in progress and it is going to require your most creative and focused efforts ever.”

According to the posting, seems like Apple is scouting a candidate who has skill in working with web technologies. An individual who also exhibits talents in HTTP and large scale web systems is definitely a stand out to the company.

Even thought the focus of Apple seems to be directed towards the iOS platform, the company has mentioned that they are working on Mac OS X in the background, which has led to the belief that the company is prepping a complete revamp of the desktop/notebook operating system. Many have already speculated that Apple is ramping up their “Marble” interface to replace the current “Aqua” one. The subject will seem to be utilizing the new developments of the project software and help construct new elements that will be embedded in the “very foundations” of the Mac OS X software.

The feature does seem to be a core elements of the software as a candidate possessing skills in C, Objective-C and C++ developments as well as working with UNIX and Mac OS X are very welcomed.

There is no doubt that Cupertino is working on Mac OS X as Steve Jobs has already mentioned to a concerned loyal customer that the company has definitely not forgotten about Mac OS and are working on it during the company’s extreme focus on iOS. Evidence has also presented itself in Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) with build numbers. 11A47 is a build number that presented itself during the Snow Leopard beta testing. The prefix in the numbering (the 11 before the “A”) implies that Mac OS 10.7, in whatever phase it’s in, does indeed exist.

Nice work putting two and two together here, and the name definitely makes sense but I'm not sure if it's different enough from Snow Leopard and Leopard, too many leopards. I would be THRILLED if true cloud computing was built into 10.7.

There have been some rumors going vabout that Apple has pulled AirPrint from the final release of iOS 4.2. Apparently, a rumor came about yesterday claiming that Apple has axed the feature from the iOS 4.2 final release because of some unforeseen circumstances. Distraught by the speculated exemption of the features, a customer decided to shoot Steve Jobs a letter about it to get a further understanding of the matter. Steve replied saying that AirPrint has not been cut from the final version of the anticipated software update.
