Apple Approves Google Voice

Been a long time coming, and many people have been waiting for this. Cupertino has given the OK for Google’s official Google Voice application to be placed in the App Store for download. Google had anticipation of releasing the application for iOS, but Apple decided not to give way for Google’s app for their call forwarding service, stating that the software was “duplicating features that come with the iPhone”, however, they initially stated that they weren’t rejecting nor approving the app, it was merely under further dissection. With the new guidelines made for app development for iOS streamlined to speed up and increase App Store approval performance, it was more than expected by experts that the Google Voice application would be granted approval.

It will be awhile before you see the application in the App Store, though. Google wants to revamp the app and take advantage of Apple’s new Software Development Kit (SDK) to employ new features that the current product doesn’t entail including Retina Display support and the Seven Services.

If you have been under rock for a while, Google Voice is a calling forwarding service that the search giant provides that allows you’re calls to be forwarded to any selected device. You can also send text messages and place calls for free within the United States and for a prorated charge internationally. Google assigns you a personal number that you can distribute opposed to say your mobile number or home phone number (for those of you who have home phones). You can assign the device you want to ring and when your Google number is called, the phones will ring. Seeing things in action will give you a better idea of what it’s about, so, check out the video below.

There have been some rumors going vabout that Apple has pulled AirPrint from the final release of iOS 4.2. Apparently, a rumor came about yesterday claiming that Apple has axed the feature from the iOS 4.2 final release because of some unforeseen circumstances. Distraught by the speculated exemption of the features, a customer decided to shoot Steve Jobs a letter about it to get a further understanding of the matter. Steve replied saying that AirPrint has not been cut from the final version of the anticipated software update.
