Apple Begins Seeding Mac OS 10.6.6

In something that we here at MacApper cant recall Apple ever doing, Cupertino has decided to disperse the first beta of Mac OS 10.6.6, even before the 10.6.5 update has been officially available to the public. The good folks over at 9 to 5 Mac made some notes that include the mentioning of no documented issues with the software and mentions to developers to focus their attention towards the Mac App Store.

  • Contains developer support for fetching and renewing App Store receipts. See “Validating App Store Receipts” for more details.

Weight of the software is coming in at a little over 3.5MB, suggesting that their are few tweaks to the software and that this update is probably solely for the polishing of the App Store making its debut on the Mac OS frontier.

We dont know what to make of the development ourselves, but our friends Eric Slivka and company over at MacRumors suggests that Cupertino is accelerating the development of the Mac OS X software to meet the 90 day deadline they have given themselves at the Back to the MacĀ event that took place late October. Seems the likely reason given the size of the software and the instruction from Apple themselves fro devs to focus on the App Store. The company seems to be on the fast track as they have began accepting submission for software to debut in the App Store for the Mac on its premier day.

There have been some rumors going about that Apple has pulled AirPrint from the final release of iOS 4.2. Apparently, a rumor came about yesterday claiming that Apple has axed the feature from the iOS 4.2 final release because of some unforeseen circumstances. Distraught by the speculated exemption of the features, a customer decided to shoot Steve Jobs a letter about it to get a further understanding of the matter. Steve replied saying that AirPrint has not been cut from the final version of the anticipated software update.
