Apple Releases Mac OS 10.6.5; iOS 4.2: This Friday?

Seems like some sources have gotten word that Apple has officially closed beta testing for the 10.6.5 update for Mac OS. MacStories also chimes in saying that iTunes 10.1 will be released tomorrow as well. The source of the information is said to be coming from sources working close with AT&T. Carrier employees have been branded regularly giving bad information, so, we wouldnt advise to you trust that tip fully.

Steve Jobs: AirPrint has not been pulled.

There have been some rumors going about that Apple has pulled AirPrint from the final release of iOS 4.2. Apparently, a rumor came about yesterday claiming that Apple has axed the feature from the iOS 4.2 final release because of some unforeseen circumstances. Distraught by the speculated exemption of the features, a customer decided to shoot Steve Jobs a letter about it to get a further understanding of the matter. Steve replied saying that AirPrint has not been cut from the final version of the anticipated software update.

More and more signs are showing themselves indicating that the iOS 4.2 software update is on it’s way to an iPhone, iPod and iPad near you. One of the latest signs to show it’s face is the beginning of Apple approving applications with Game Center integration for the iPad.

iTunes Songs Preview Being Extended to 90 Seconds

Symphonic Distribution as gotten some information that Apple has informed music labels that they will be extending content previews to 90 seconds, a 300% increase from the original preview time. Technically, this increase will only be applied to the United States iTunes Store specifically for content that is at least two minutes and thirty seconds long. Anything that is under those standards will continue to be previewed for only thirty seconds.

Support for iTunes LP and Extras Coming Soon to Apple TV

One of the developments that Apple launched a while back to make movie and music purchases more meaningful was the addition of exclusive content only obtainable through iTunes LP and iTunes Extras. When the user purchases the content from the iTunes Store, the content comes bundled with additional material that includes custom artwork, exclusive videos and notes from the creator along with other materials that are unique to the iTunes experience.

iAds Software Going Worldwide

Cupertino is starting to push out their iAds software advertising program to the world. Devs are chiming in that they are seeing ad requests from many locations around the world at the mere announcement of the iAds global initiative. Ad impression from those foreign regions went unfilled with the United Kingdom the only country getting any play time with the mobile advertising software.

Apple Support Knows About the DST Issue, Fix Coming Very Soon.

Seems like the Daylight Savings Time bug that we reported about a while back has made it’s way to moor countries since then. Apple gave official acknowledgement on the bug on their support page of their website. Cupertino made it clear that they are aware of the issue and have already devised a fix that will be presented in the next update wry soon. Until then, they have advise users to remedy the problem with a workaround for the next couple of days before the US and Canadian region begin the DST switch (which is this Sunday), signaling that iOS 4.2 is right around the corner.

Apple releases iPhoto 9.1 With Support for Calendars

Yesterday, Cupertino released an update to their new iPhoto image management software. iPhoto 9.1 brings back support for photo calendars which had went AWOL with the initial iLife 11 update. Aside from that, the update also fixes sevral kinks that the software had.

This update adds several new print product options to iPhoto ’11. It also improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues.
