iOS 5 To Offer Major Voice Integration? iPhone 5 To Have LTE?
TechCrunch is chiming in that the fifth generation iPhone and iOS 5 will incorporate in-depth voice control features. Back in April of 2010, Apple acquired artificial intelligence group Siri. The initial purpose of the acquisition was once thought to help Apple enter into the search arena of the tech sector. However, Steve Jobs cleared it up at D8 that the company is not involved in search, they are an AI company.
“There not a search company. They are into AI. We really like what they do with AI.”
Amazon Launches Cloud Drive/WWDC Sold Out In 10 Hours
Cloud computing is definitely the way of the future, and more than being apart of the movement, everyone wants to do it right and make it unique on how their service uses the cloud. Amazon has launched their quietly talked about cloud storage service the “Amazon Cloud Drive”.
With the new service, Amazon is offering five gigabytes [5GB] of storage space for the users to have free of charge. Additional space on the service is one dollar per gig. A user can buy up to a whole terabyte [1TB], or 1000GB [$1000], of storage space and use at their discretion. In addition to that, any user who purchases music form the Amazon music store can store the content on their cloud service for no charge to wallet or storage space on the service.
Apple Design Awards For Mac And iOS (App Store Only)
With the announcement of the date of the World Wide Developer’s Conference [WWDC] set for June 6 through the 10th in San Francisco’s Moscone West Convention Center, Apple has also announced the details of its Apple Design Awards commending applications that have set an extraordinary standard of what is expected and unique on both the iOS and Mac OS platforms.
No New iPhone This Year?
A rumor that has come about that has some shocked in awe. There is a possibility that Apple will have no fifth-generation iPhone to present at the WWDC. The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple is reporting that Apple has no plans on introducing any new devices. Apple has used the WWDC as the stage to introduce a new iPhone consistently over the last several years the iPhone has been in existence. Apparently, Apple will be keeping the event all about software.

WWDC Is Set
Seems like Apple has everything marked down in calendars for this year’s World Wide Developer’s Conference. The company announced that they will be holding the event on June 6 thru the 10th at the Moscone West Convention Center.
“At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss.”
iOS 5 Cloud-Based, Fall Release.
Apple typically releases some new software at the WWDC event that they hold annually. However, according to the good folks over at TechCrunch, Apple may be shaking somethings up by unveiling the new software at WWDC ‘11, but releasing in the fall.
“Many people (including myself) were a bit disappointed that Apple didn’t devote any time during the iPad 2 unveiling to talking about iOS 5, the next major revamp of the software. But there may be a very good reason for that: it’s not coming anytime soon. In fact, the plan right now is to wait to launch iOS 5 until the fall, we’ve heard from two solid sources.”
Apple Creating Golden Master Version of Mac OS X Lion?
Seems like Apple is right on schedule for their summer release of Mac OS X Lion. According to TechCrunch, Apple is already in the stages of developing a goldenmaster candidate for the software to release to devs for testing. Although this is a GM model of the software, Apple may release several versions of the build before ultimately deciding that one is perfect for public release. Being that it has reached the golden stages of development, the OS is pretty much wrapped up on new features and aspects and this will be testing for bugs and kinks.
Apple Releases iOS 4.3.1 / Apple Releases Xcode 4.0.1
Cupertino has released a minor update go the iOS software. iOS 4.3.1 addresses several issues with the software that the company has been working on since the initial 4.3 update. From the release notes, iOS 4.3.1 administers fixes to:
“This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:
- Fixes an occasional graphics glitch on iPod touch (4th generation)
- Resolves bugs related to activating and connecting to some cellular networks
- Fixes image flicker when using Apple Digital AV Adapter with some TVs
- Resolves an issue authenticating with some enterprise web services”
Real Racing HD Supporting 1080p Output On Dual Displays
One the most played games on the iOS platform, Real Racing, is having a big update for the new iPad 2. Firemint’s Real Racing HD is receiving support for 1080p resolution while serving two separate displays: The iPad and another of the user’s choice. This software demonstrates the power of the Apple A5 processor that has dual cores operating the device.
“Using the video out feature of an iPad 2, Real Racing 2 HD will be able to be displayed on a big screen in full 1080p resolution while the device’s 10-inch touchscreen shows a track map and race statistics.
Apple Still Looking to Revamp Maps Application
Cupertino still has plans to remodel the Maps application on the iOS platform. Recently, Apple has posted a new job opening searching for a maps developer who can “radically improve” the Maps application and other geolocation features.
