Apple Releasing iOS 4.3 Today?
The Boy Genius Report is chiming in today that Apple will be releasing iOS 4.3 this morning (this afternoon of you are on the east coast). While we would originally dismiss this claim if it was coming from anyone else, BGR has an impressive track record for targeting software release dates from Cupertino. However, it does cause one to scratch their heads being that Apple has already announced that they will be releasing the iOS 4.3 software update along side the launch of the iPad 2 on the 13th of March. The Golden Master version of the software was released last week.
Some other debate is also circling around this Personal Hotspot limitation confusion. There has been some mixup on how many devices can actually be utilized through Wi-Fi on the device. Apple has detail pages that narrate up to three devices, while in other markets, the readings show up to five. It seems like the actual potential of the device really depends on the market. Boy Genius is stating that up to three devices can be connected through Wi-Fi by default and can be extended through request of the carrier.
Were waiting for the day to progress to see if Apple really makes a release.
Update!
As you might have guess, Apple did not release the iOS 4.3 software update this afternoon as The Boy Genius Report profiled. However, The Loop chimed in and stated that the actual early release date for the new software is actually tomorrow.
“The speculation of iOS coming early seems to be solid, it’s just the day that’s off. If I were sitting waiting for iOS 4.3 to hit, I’d be ready tomorrow.”
Seems to be some truth to the notion as a MacRumors reader just recently asked a Apple Chat Support representative on what is the official date of release of the software.
Apple sales staff typically are kept in the dark about any new development, whether deep or shallow, until officially notified by Apple, at which point the information is also released to the public. However, Apple could possibly provide information to sales persons in order to provide proper information to concerned customers. However, as our friends over at MacRumors conducted the same investigation, not all Apple Chat reps provide the same information. As we have just discovered, an Apple Chat rep informed us that the release of the software is on Friday, as scheduled.
