Twitter Updates to 3.3.1

Twitter has updated their iPhone client to version 3.3.1.  The update states that it fixes crashing that has been caused by launching with location services on.  3.3.1 also updates the new “Quick Bar” so that set by default, the bar doesn’t overlap over the tweets in your timeline.  This version also improves performances for those who use Twitter for iOS with multiple accounts.  Security fixes are also included.

Overview of Updates:

  • Fixes crashing some users have been seeing on launch with location services
  • Updated Quick Bar default behavior to not overlap tweets in the timeline
  • Security Fixes
  • Improved performance for users with many accounts

Twitter for iOS has recently received a lot of design and feature criticism for its new “Quick Bar” that shows the latest local trends on twitter.  What is your opinion on this relatively new feature?  Is it a deal breaker for this app?

I’m just glad I use Weet. I could care less about what’s trending and it takes up too much space. If it was optional then it would make sense.

I hate the quickbar, I’ve never cared about promoted or trending tweets and I don’t care now. Combine this with their recent change in stance on the API and I’ve just deleted the native Twitter apps from my systems.
