Inventive has released a new version of their clipboard manager for OS X, iClip 4. For those of you not familiar with it, iClip provides a scrapbook and multiple-clipboard solution that enhances the system clipboard and lets you store bits of data.

iClip not only stores multiple items, you can create multiple sets, each of which can hold up to 99 items, such as photos, text, and URLs. There is a built-in clipboard, called “Recorder?, which keeps track of your last 99 copy-and-paste operations. You can drag-and-drop items to and from iClip's containers, and copy and paste anything in the containers with one click. In addition, you can store quick notes by clicking on an empty container. This opens a text editor. Holding your mouse over an item brings up a pop-up preview of it, even for pictures, which is a nice touch.

iClip 4 features a completely remade interface, which, of course, you can customize to your liking. You can change the shape and size of the containers, adjust the opacity of the iClip window, and set it to appear on the side of your screen you prefer.

Besides the interface enhancements, iClip is now available as a Universal Binary good news for owners of Intel-based Macs (actually the “it’s about time? category) and features signaficant performance optimizations, according to Inventive. Download a trial version of iClip today and check it out for yourself.
