...Any good books or music I should check out?
I was going to get some art books, drawing and painting and such. I need something good to read as a novel however! Please give me some suggestions! :w00t:

Check out the banned book list:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banned_books
Generally speaking, this is where you'll find interesting books. There are some great works in the list, sure to be interesting if only in their proven ability to offend someone.
Enjoy!
Fwiw, there's lots more offensive - and well written - material out there, but this should get you going.
If you like Sci-Fi action thrillers. Sphere by Michael Crichton (Double check the author name, I am pretty sure its michael something) is a real page turner. Couldnt put it down when I read it. And Im not too much of the novel reader.
P.S. If you have seen the movie, disregard any of it. They completely ruined it. Book = Awesome

The movie is rarely as good as the book. (Though there are a handful of exceptions.)

To me an exception was The Silence of the Lambs. Read the book and thought it was very muddied. Saw the movie and the structure and editing was amazing.

One of the exceptions I have in mind is The Princess Bride, for the same reasons you said about TSOTL!

You know, reading through that list, Im surprised about 2 things.
1. Why some of those books are banned in the first place.
2. How many of them I have actually read.

1. Control. Each one of them offended someone in some way. Sometimes it's about language, but more often it's about an idea someone doesn't want you to consider.
2. I've read many of them myself. ^_^

Control, absolutely. Just look at the omnipresence of the Christian church (and I'm Catholic) in medieval times. People were beheaded just because they thought the earth was round or were tried for heresy. So ya know... Luckily things change, it takes time but they do.
*Phew*
Oh I know WHY they are. But..... hmmm, maybe "surprised" wasnt the right word.
Just depends where you are from I guess. Its like Animal Farm being banned in communist countries while I read that book in the eight grade here in a capitalist country. Just depends. One I enjoyed was Steal This Book. While I would never actually do 98% of whats in that book, (much of it is outdated anyway) its still a very interesting thing to read.
By clicking here you acknowledge that I am not a crazy underground rebel bent to overthrow the government (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steal_this_book)

^^
Many bookstores refused to carry the book, because some patrons followed the advice of the book's title. [1] It is very hard to find in libraries for that same reason.
