According to Ars Technica (http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/07/03/macbook-air-ssd-purchase-price-drops-by-500), "Apple quietly slashed the price of the SSD MacBook Air this week, bringing it down from nearly $3,100 to just under $2,600. While still pricier than the lower-end, hard-drive based model ($1,799), $500 is no small change and represents a pretty major price drop in roughly six months since introduction."

According to MacRumors (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/07/03/1-8ghz-ssd-macbook-air-drops-500/), Apple has emailed customers who have outstanding orders that are affected by the price drop:

Well that's good.

Now if only they would drop the HDD model to $1399...

That indeed would be nice. The MBA is just too pricey for me.

yeah.. i personally am not interested in the MBA. i have seen it. and played around with a friends. and i honestly don't think it is something i would use. i think i would more use a small sony 11". it's smaller, lighter, and it has a disk drive. or like.... an asus eeePC. with linux on it. the MBA is just to expensive for what it is. in my opinion. looks good though!

ya very nice looking but has its limits. I like to have a nic card onboard incase something wonky ever happens to the wifi connection or no wifi access at all. But it is a sleek looking machine. I was very tempted to invest in it till I read the specs. Just wasnt right for what i needed it for.
