I had no idea Apple charge THIRTY FIVE POUNDS just to answer a simple question if your Mac is older than 90 days. Guess someones got to pay for all that snazzy advertising

The funny thing is, despite the size of this post im convinced my question is REALLY SIMPLE...

It all started yesterday - I set up my new Sky Broadband wireless Modem, then I took my Mac Mini out the box and set it up for the First Time. I was amazed my Mac Mini detected my Sky Broadband and I entered my Network Key provided by Sky when I was prompted to enter my Password. I was even more amazed when my Mac Mini confirmed the wireless internet connection and completed the set up. Simple.

The internet worked great until I put my mac to sleep and went to sleep. When I tried to check my email this morning I was told by Safari that there was no internet connection. I tried using the Network assistant and it found my Sky Modem as before and requested a password. Heres the problem, the same password I used yesterday no longer works. I didn't change any settings, I simply put it to sleep, so nothing has changed, yet the mesage says password invalid etc.

Also, I planned to set up my Macbook Pro today and connect it to the same network so my Macs could finally talk. When I saw the problem with the Mac Mini I decided to take the Macbook out the box anyway and see if it would connect first time as easy as the Mac Mini did. So I went through the set up screens on the Macbook and it found my Sky Broadband wireless Modem and requested a password. I entered the same Sky Network Key I successfully entered yesterday for my Mac Mini and IT DIDN'T WORK EITHER :scared:

I've read some very complex stuff trying to find advice on the web but my wireless connection has worked (albiet briefly) in the past. I'd really appreciate any advice - Using my slow but faithful windows laptop to write this is killing me!!! :cursing:

Thanks in advance...

I'm not great on the wireless, i'm a bit of a "plug it in and hope for the best"
But I've had a quick look around the web, and it looks like there are problems with the Sky Modem - so as hard as it is, with Sky customer service often being poor - it may be worth giving them a ring and see if you get anywhere!
Sorry - that is a real cop-out answer, but as it may be a modem problem...

It does seem that way doesn't it? The only message im getting is PASSWORD INVALID so that must mean the answer lies with Sky...

Once I select MY modem from the list that appears in the Network Assistant, if the password I enter does not work then is there ANYWAY it could be something i've done to the Mac?

I don't think it is, surely im being told the Password is invalid I need to speak to Sky? Just wanted to check before I prepare to call them...

Unlikely it's anything you've done with the Mac - very hard, maybe impossible, to mess with the wireless! (I Believe) - and as it's the same on two macs, its very unlikely!

Good luck with Sky!

Yes, if it is giving you a password error, your issue is indeed with sky. Good luck with that battle!
