I just recently got Connect 360 so I can have my Xbox 360 connected to my Mac. I am pretty clueless how it all works though. I don't have a wireless adapter for my 360 just a ethernet cable. Anyways can someone help me out? I installed Connect 360 in my System Preferences but I have no clue how it'll detect my Xbox 360.

Also im trying to back up a few game saves if that helps. And add some videos. People told me Connect 360 was the best way to go if im hooking up my 360 to my Mac.

It's fairly simple to use. Once you have it installed make sure you have it actually running. You have to click "Start" in the preferences it'll run in your finder bar. Once it's up and running you need to tell it where your files are located. Connect 360 will look in the default locations of iTunes, iPhoto and your movies folder. You can assign where you want Connect360 to look for the files.

I have mine set to my downloads folder in this example. All you have to do is plug your 360 into your router / hub so it's on the same network as your mac. I have my 360 set up with DHCP, most are set this way at default.

To make sure your 360 is set to DHCP go to the very last blade on your 360, it's labeled "System" Go down to Network Settings, then go to Edit Settings. It will show you your IP address and it'll also tell you what your connection settings are, it should say automatic.

Connect 360 will see your Xbox as soon as it is online, in order to see your files you have to change the source where the 360 looks for it's files. For instance, go into the Media blade on the 360, go to one of the categories, like movies, images or music. I'll go to movies for this example, since my movies are stored in the Downloads folder on my mac, that's what will show up in my 360, just the movies in my downloads folder. To change the source on the 360 hit the X button, this will show a menu of all of the devices connected to your 360. Connect 360 will usually be at the bottom, it'll have your computers name. Click on the icon and it'll show you your files.

Most usually you're greeted with 2 folders, one will say iTunes and the other one will be Movies, the iTunes folder shows all of the movies in your iTunes library, the movie folder will show you all of the videos in the directory you selected in Connect360. That's pretty much it really. You have to point your 360 to look for the correct folder.

If you want to use multiple directories then I'd suggest Rivet (http://cynicalpeak.com/rivet/). Rivet allows you to select multiple directories to be displayed on the 360.

You will not be able to backup your game saves with either of these applications, you do not have any access to the 360 file system with these tools either. They are gateway applications, they just allow your xbox 360 talk to your mac, that's all. You would have to use an SATA to USB device or something like an Xecuter Blaster device. Consolesource.com (http://www.consolesource.com/affiliates/idevaffiliate.php?id=151) has such devices to read the 360 drive. You can't read the file system over the network.

I hope this helps :)
