Forgot to mention... on the way home we ran into some grass fires. Pretty intense, right off the side of the road. We couldn't see very far in front of our car, maybe 6 feet in some parts, the rest were low visibility areas. Once we looked back at the smoke it looked like a large cloud. About a 2-3 mile span of grass fires. Many firetrucks from different cities brought in from as far as 30 minutes away.

MD, Got it on regular DVD.
Blu-Ray is a tuff question as to whether it's worth it or not. And I would say very individualized based on the cost for the TV, the player and the disks. It's not a small investment.
Regular DVD's look remarkably good up-converted.
However, even after having an HD-DVD/Blu-Ray set up for over a year now, everytime we put in a Blu-Ray or an HD-DVD disk, one of us remarks at how good the picture quality is.
Think I only have 4 DVD's that I have replaced with HD or Blu to compare the upconvert vs the real thing. Have the Errol Flynn / Olivia DeHaviland: The Adventures of Robin Hood (and gotta say, for a movie made in 1938; this one is just flat out amazing on HD-DVD); Blazing Saddles; John Wayne's 'The Searchers and National Treasure.
In a head to head comparison, the picture is definitely superior in HD. Not nearly enough superior to make me want to replace my existing library of DVD's. While I do have a couple of expensive hobbies in computers and my entertainment systems; I am not rich. So, it is also not enough difference to cause me to purchase only the HD version vs a standard DVD at a $10 or more premium. Don't believe I've seen a movie that I'd pay $30 - $40 for.
Luckily we have Amazon here and a lot of the HD/Blu releases can be had for only a $2-4 premium over a standard DVD. At that price point it becomes worth it to me. And Amazon has a lot of sales. I have maybe 75 HD/B-R DVD's now. My best guess: the average price I have paid is under $15. At that price, for me, they become very worthwhile.
MD, you can always do what I did for my first B-R player - get a PS3. The price is right, and it will hold it's value better than a stand alone. It is also a very highly rated B-R player. It's a hassle on the remote side, but worth it.

Nah, it was pretty sunny today. I think it was a train, several passed by and may have caused a spark. They stopped the rest of the train traffic as well. We saw two trains stopped later down the road. Lots of crops and trees burned though... I feel bad for the farmers' whose crops are burned.

Thanks Bob. I bought the Pioneer plasma nearly 5 years ago and even today it has one of the best pictures I have seen of any TV. The 50" Pioneer Kuros I would like to replace it with is more than $7k but is rated as the best on the market. Maybe I will see what my tax gives me at end in financial year.
But then I will want to upgrade the Onkyo receiver and get a blu ray player as well. I see Pioneer are about to release a very nice blu ray player. Oh decisions decisions.......
bobtomay

Pioneer makes some good stuff. So does Panasonic on the Plasma and LCD front. Still up there in $$, but not quite as expensive as the Pioneer. Doubt you could tell the diff once you got it in your home.
Put the Onkyo 705 in the LR set up for it's HD capabilities. It's a nice sounding receiver, and good enough for movie viewing. You want to make sure you look at the # of HDMI inputs on a receiver. Have 3 on this one and that's not enough. But between it and the TV, I have 5 available for different devices. The only thing that you'll want to make sure goes to the receiver via HDMI will be your B-R player. Not another cable will carry DTS HD or Dolby True-HD.
If you can wait it out for a Blu-Ray, I would. All of 'em should be coming out with 2.0 players this summer. Right now the PS3 is the only 2.0 player and Panasonic currently has the best player (unless it's changed in the last couple of months, don't stay right on top of everything once I've done my upgrades).

HDMI is the biggest problem with the Pioneer I have - only one port. The DVD player has none and the Onkyo receiver none. My equipment is about 8 years old now and the TV 5. Time for a major upgrade. I see one of the local stores is selling stuff no deposit no payments until 2010.
Now what to do wit the old bits? I still have the previous one in the garage powering my out door system.

HELLLLOOOOO EVERYONE!
I don't really know what to say, today has been BORING.
Cleaning.
My dad was REALLY making me angry today.
See, we all have Sony W580i's, and NOBODY read the directions but me.
It's a complicated phone!
My parents, coming from 5 year old Nextels, and my brothers never even having phones before, there are a lot of new features my parents have no idea about.
My mom's pretty good with her blackberry, but the rest of my family always comes to me asking me "How do i do this?" "What does THAT mean?"
all of that.
I hate that.
How do I know how to do that stuff?
I READ THE DIRECTIONS!
It's not like I was just bornwith all of that in my brain, I taught myself.
So I tell them....you NEED to read the directions.
If they don't understand or something, i'll help them, as long as they've read the directions.
They all have memory cards except me (so not fair!), so they're all off loading their music and pictures and the like. Nobody has any problems but my dad.
Nobody has a PC except my dad and my mom, so maybe that's why.
He asked me how to transfer music, I said look in the directions.
I don't have a memory card, i've never transferred music before, but i KNOW it says it word for word in the dang book.
He was getting FURIOUS!
IT DOESN'T SAY HOW IN THE DAMN DIRECTIONS, YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T READ THEM BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SAY! I DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ THE DIRECTIONS!
Then he threw the instructions at me and told me to find it.
Scratched the lens on my glasses.
I wasn't about to find it for him.
It CLEARLY says, page 52, clear as day, black and white.
Honestly, it's plug and play, how can it be so hard?!
I don't copy music to his phone for him and suddenly i'm stupid, lazy, useless, worthless, and I get it all from my moms side.
Then asks me again like 10 minutes later how to do it.
IT'S NOT EVEN HARD!
I have NO IDEA why he couldn't do it himself, I don't even think he tried to even think about it.
I could go on and on and on and on, but I won't.
I'm SO EXCITED to see my half sister tomorrow!
It's been more than THREE MONTHS!
I CANNOT FREAKIN WAIT.
I'm gonna finish cleaning.
GOODNIGHT EVERYONE!

I went to verizon today to check on prices for a replacement. Its $80 to get a new battery and the cheapest phone I could get is $200. I wanted the LG Env2, and that is $390.
Cell phones are such a ripoff.
You know you want too, you can play Tap Tap Revolution! :D

I've noticed Verizon phones are pretty gosh darn expensive!
That's why we have AT&T and love it!
We only paid $130 for 5 phones, one was a blackberry!
Yay for good deals!
$80 for a new battery?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!
Why don't you just like buy one from ebay or radio shack or something?
I'm assuming you don't want to extend your contract right?

I hear ya. The moment you fork out $400 for one it's been replaced by something newer. And if you want it fixed it's usually more than it's worth. I'll stick with the old stuff. The brick

Drivers training is FINALLY DONE!
If my partner doesn't get a facebook, like I told her she should, I will bug her to no end until she does.
I don't know her phone number, but WE DROVE TO HER HOUSE ON OUR DRIVE TIME, I KNOW WHERE SHE LIVES!
Actually, I can't really remember...
I have to go down to the secretary of state (Bleh), and then by November I have to complete (bleh) and log (bleh) 50 driving hours (bleh), 10 of which are at night (bleh).
50 hours seems like a long time, considering I don't plan on going on any road trips!
50 hours seems like a long time, CONSIDERING GAS IS $4.15 A GALLON! I WON'T BE ABLE TO DRIVE ANYMORE, BECAUSE IT'LL COST MANY ARMS AND LEGS TO GO ANYWHERE!
Oh, and I'll have to borrow a relatives car for my road test, because reading the list, none of our will pass the inspection.
Horn doesn't work on the car.
Windshield is cracked on the van, and one door gets stuck.

Hahaha, I wouldn't own a Chrysler. If someone gave me one I'd probably sell it. Have had FOUR ford products and despite the "fix or repair" reputation, I think much less of chrysler/dodge. My parents have had three or four. They all needed timing belts and water pumps and who-knows-what was wrong with the transmissions! To say something nice? They're comfortable. :tongue_smilie:

I'll consider Chrysler when I see how they are doing in 5 years. I have had three american cars. 2 Jeeps and a Ford. The 85 Cherokee was a mess. Chevy engine, Toyota Transmission, Ford Vacuum system and Chrysler electrical system. My 90 Wagoneer was pretty good all things considered. My 2007 Ranger was a pile. It didn't break down but had problems from the get go. A radio short and a door not adjusted. Cheap paint and a cheaply made interior. I got the high end model too! Right now I am sticking to Toyota.
Good Luck on the interview MHC. I'm sure you'll get it. If not I'll straighten them out.

The seat in the van wouldn't go back.
I was pulling the lever, but it wouldn't go back.
I pulled the lever far back enough so it did go back, then when I tried to put it back up it wouldn't stay up, then the lever (and the weird shaped screw thing that was attached to it) completely came off, and now the seat won't stay in one place, it's just flopping around.
UGH.
Sorry dad, but when you're done rebuilding and replacing 3 transmissions, getting new brakes and struts, and replacing taillights, can you possibly take a look at the passenger seat in the van?

I'm sick of the coughing, the bad breath, the stained teeth, and the stench. Oh....the stench.
I'm sick of getting in to a car and smelling that horrible stench.
I'm sick of hugging my parents and smelling that stench.
I'm sick of everything related to them.
I don't really see a good reason for that.
All that money, time, health...wasted.
You can't just smoke for 25 years and expect nothing to happen.
My dad's hacking like no tomorrow.
It makes them sooooooo much crankier, much less enjoyable.
My mom hasn't been the same since she started.
More naps, more rests, more breaks.
Are my parents going to be there when I walk down the aisle?
Are they going to be there when I become a father?
Are they going to be able to see me excel in anything and everything I do?
Are they going to see me make my life everything I could ever dream of?
It's just stupid.
It affects me, like it or not.
I smoke too.
Her cigarette becomes our cigarette.
I don't want that in my life.
I'm too smart for that.
I respect my life too much.
I respect my teeth, my lungs, my liver, my body MORE than that.
But I have no choice.
Sometimes when people hug me they say I smell like cigarettes.
THings are just different now.
There's this grouchy smelly lady here, and I wonder what she's done with my mom.

Wow Tanner. So much pent up anger.
You seem to be learning that the parents that you used to think of as perfect are not at all. Just people with flaws like everyone else. Don't be too hard on them after all you do love each other. You need to sit down with them and quietly tell them how you feel, what you think it is doing to them, you, and the relationship you have with each other. Teenage years are the best of your life but are also the hardest in some ways. If you feel that you can't talk to them I would advise you speak to someone such as a school counselor because you do need to verbalise they feeling and emotions. I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say that we are happy to listen to you and "speak" on line with you but that is not enough. You need to get this out there with your family as a family unit or someone better able to help than me.

Good morning. Am in heavy data crunch mode. Cheetah mode. It's one of those days I need to be and will be in The Zone. Just got a short term task from The Shoe Lady (the one in the random link, if you recall). Anyway, much to do, no time to do it. Need to get the brain running faster. Coffee is beside me, music is playing, and it's time to crunch.
Have fun, play nice, and will check the place throughout the day as the task permits.

I entirely agree.
Tanner, you as a non-smoker, have rights. Tell them you don't want to smoke even if you don't want to and that you want them to respect your rights. Second hand smoke is just as dangerous. They should go smoke outside of the house and never smoke is a closed environment like a car.

I drove my mom to Meijer today.
I was so bored, that I didn't even care that I now have 28 minutes less life to live.
She bought 16 pillows, 2 huge bottles of vinegar, and condoms.
She's acting really weird lately.
Apparently the dog has fleas, so she's FREAKING OUT that everyone else is going to get fleas.
I guess i'm the only one who thought about fleas BEFORE we got the dog.
She's just different.
Slower, less energetic.
Her motor skills seem way slower too.
It's hard to explain, but it doesn't seem like she's able to think straight.
It's so much harder to hold a conversation. It sort of resembles someone in the early stages of alzheimers, but not because she's 39.
She just wants to sit around all day. That's not her.
I find myself avoiding her because she seems to be so irritable that she could snap at any given time. That's not her.
I'm feeling it too, way more than I would ever think possible.
I feel so lazy lately.
I don't even have the energy and/or motivation to get out of bed until 4:30 in the afternoon.
I get annoyed easily now.
It's taken the edge off of life.
I don't feel like myself anymore.
I love my mom. She's amazing. I couldn't ask for anyone better, but at the same time I resent her so much.
How could she do this to me?
How could she do this to herself?
Nobody's perfect, everyone makes mistakes, but this is different.
Excuse me for being selfish, but she can't make this MY mistake too.
She's taking me down with her, and that's not fair.
It's changed her.
It feels like it's changed me too.
She can smoke until her lungs turn purple, I can't do anything about that. She doesn't care about her health, why should I?
But I want, I need, and I expect better from myself.
I'm not that person.
I try to fight it every day, but it's affect is toxic.
The mood is different here.
The air is different here.
SHe smokes outside, but the air is heavy here in my room.
I never thought a little bit of smoke here and there would have so much power. Maybe it's not her mistake making me feel so lousy, maybe i'm just having a bad day. Can it really affect me that much?Surely, it can. What else could it be?
Her mistake slowly drifts into my lungs. As a silent killer, soul seeking poison, it's slowly trying to claim me too.
It's not going to.
Not now, not ever.
This mood, it's not for me.
She can stay, dull and dreary, but I need to snap out of it.
She can choose to die a slow and painful death, but i'm too strong.
I'm sorry, this is sort of negative.
I'm going to sleep.
Tomorrow will be a new day.
THE new day.
My temporary spell will be broken.
Don't ask me how, I don't know.
Ask me why, I'll say I choose life.
I choose life.
MY life.
I love my mom, but her problems aren't going to become mine.
It's not worth the anger it's caused me.
I'm letting go of concern for now, because tomorrow I want to be happy again.
You'll see, tomorrow i'll be crazy again.
I'll wake up with a new attitude about this stupid smoking thing.
It's done.
I'm done.
She can do what she wants.
Who cares, right?
I choose my life.
Goodnight.

You are right to be concerned for her but not angry because anger does not help at all. In fact anger only makes things worse. You need to to calmly discuss your feeling and concerns with her and your father.
As for who cares, well obviously her loving son does. You need to work through this or it will consume you and spoil any relationship you have with your mom. Please try......

Tanner, I understand the emotion. My parents made some life choices that were very hard on our family. It had more to do with emotional functionality than health, but the resulting conflict was similar. I had to choose to overcome those things and create a different lifestyle. You can, too!

Smoking is terrible Tanner, however you dont want to ruin your relationship with your mom do you? Destroy your lungs and heart if you will. I realize smoking is pretty nasty to be around. Hello!
Today we went on down to the secretary of state because my mom found my social security card.
That place is pretty annoying.
We waited for an hour and a half.
Then my mom couldn't find her license, which was like super annoying because we had to go in the van and dig through her purse for like 20 minutes, then wait in line all over again.
I would THINK she should know exactly where that is.
I mean, you like need it to drive and all....
And she's a bus driver....
And she's going to the secretary of state, so the odds of her needing it were pretty big...but oh well.
Then we went to wal-mart for some groceries, but apparently the main thing was because my brother wanted to buy Guitar Hero Aerosmith.
He got Guitar Hero III for christmas, but I guess he had to have the Aerosmith one too.
Which is his choice, but it just annoyed me because MY MOM BOUGHT IT FOR HIM, for like no reason at all. Just like randomly bought him a $99 game just for the fun of it.
Then we went to Meijer, which sounds weird but it's wal-mart, kmart and Meijer right next to each other, and I got The Sims Bustin' Out for my xbox, because i've missed my sims lately.
$9.99 that could have been put to better use, but oh well.
I'll earn some extra money I guess.
My mom could have been fair and bought it for me, but noooooo lol.
Lucky brother!
I'm gonna go satisfy my Sims craving now!
And I should clean my room, because I ended up going to a friends house yesterday instead of cleaning it....

My last long term experience was with MS Flight Simulator 2000 Pro. I was impressed with what they had, especially as regarded domestic and international airports. Okay, I was mostly impressed they had airport 48U, the Greater Green River Intergalactic Spaceport.
http://www.airnav.com/airport/48U
The remarks for the airport are many years old.
Anyway, I looked at X-Plane last year on my MacBook, and it looked good. Never got a joystick, and only tried the demo. I just saw the latest in the Apple Store the other day. If I had some time, I'd definitely go for it.
Are you running it on your MacBook? If so, how well does it work wrt the graphics et al?
Regarding aircraft, you need a 747-8 and an A380, the monster. 1.3M pounds of aircraft. Makes a 747 look small. Glad you're having fun with it!

Well, since we're talking about flight simulators here it looks like I'll just say something random, because I have no experience with flight simulators, except a weird simulator called flightgear I played at my cousins house for like 3 hours.
It was confusing.
I don't think that counts though.
I don't know if any of you Facebookers noticed this, but the "Top Friends" application is
COMPLETELY
GONE!
VANISHED, WITHOUT ANY NOTICE TO ANYONE!
NOBODY ON FACEBOOK HAS TOP FRIENDS ANYMORE, IT JUST DISAPPEARED!
I only used it to get to people's profiles (DIAL UP), but then they added something to it.
IT'S WEIRD!
I still haven't cleaned my room...
I loaded like 4 youtube videos, which took HOURS, then as I was slightly moving my PowerMac to unplug my speakers and plug in my headphones, the power cord shifts and it turns off.
SO FRUSTRATING!
This guy was selling some encyclopedias at our house, and we were talking about school and stuff, and he asked me where I wanted to go to college.
I don't know where, but I told him it would probably most likely NOT be in Michigan.
I think I said something like "University of NOT MICHIGAN" or something stupid.
That's the first time I really vocalized that I want to leave the state for college, and for some reason my parents were NOT HAPPY.
They went on and on about how I was being so negative.
Is that negative?
I mean, I don't think it's negative, I think it's NECESSARY.
Michigan is a horrible state to live in now.
Highest unemployment rate. BOO.
Nobody can get jobs, foreclosures here are setting records, it would be negative NOT to stay!
I know that if I did end up going to college here it would be LSSU (Lake Superior State University), because my grandmother taught there and my aunt went there, and it's in Sault Ste. Marie, where I was born.
(YES, ima yooper.)
Sentimental reasons.
I know it would be more difficult to make ends meet there rather than somewhere else with more jobs.
I don't think that's negative of me at all.
But, I told my dad "Well, if YOU can pay for everything, i'll stay." because i'm 99% sure we have NOOOOOOO money set aside for our future. We don't really even have any money set aside for the present!
His answer was "Okay" which was weird, he seemed to be serious, even though that's not even possible.
Am I being pessimistic about the good ol' mitten state?

Our DM (dundeon master or GM, game master) uses a plastic gridded wet erase mat. With markers, it's easy to make anything. He has miniatures, though some of us bring our own. Some of his minis however aren't mini, and they're usually the BBEG (Big Bad Evil Guy). Some people apparently play without the use of mat/board or minis, and use strictly paper and pencil for tracking their character. On the other hand, some folks use much more elaborate setups for the game table and use computers to run their character sheet. It's a matter of personal preference, though it's all about playing the game.

Well folks, after that sad story about Rick (from bobtomay), I think it's about time for me to call it, uh, walk time. Need the exercise. (Yes it's approaching 11:45PM. I'm a creature of the night.)
G'night and see you tomorrow!
Its alright. My average weight training will take place at about 1 A.M.
Kinda strange to have the garage blaring music at 2 A.M. ;)

It's such a beautiful day here in Montauk, but my honey and I can't fully enjoy it. As he put it, we got three days of sun in one day (yesterday). As you know, we've been sick (he with chest cold, me with head cold) and we were euphoric to be at the beach. The colds must've clouded our intellect because we barely used sunscreen!
At home in the desert, when you're in the sun, you can FEEL it and you know you better seek shade. Here on Long Island we couldn't tell we were getting roasted!

My mom told me to clean my room as well...yeah, that's gonna happen. :P
What's gonna happen is, She'll demand I leave my iBook in the living room, then send me to my room. I'll clean for maybe three minutes, then get distracted and plop down at my PC and get on teh interwbez.
Ten minutes later, she's going to come in and scream "Cassie! Get off the computer and get to work!"
Me (snapping out of a confused yet satisfied daze): "Oh right, ok."
clean for another five minutes, repeat until she finally get's to the point of not wanting to get off the couch to tell me anything.
Tomorrow, it starts all over again. :D
Ooh, it's also looking like it'll storm here. I took these pictures like 10 minutes ago.

Today was an interesting day.
1.) Got a new guitar. Black Ovation!
2.) I hit a car. I was backing out and this guy pulled up behind me after I just finished checking his side. No damage to my car and his door on his old Honda won't open right. He said he'd get back to me if he needed money. Being as he was obviously stoned I think I am in the clear. We exchanged numbers none the less.
Congrats on 29 bobtomay

A least no one was hurt. You may be lucky and he just shrugs it off. Not sure of the laws there, but what can happen is they don't want to do anything at the time because that might involve the cops and if he was stoned he wouldn't want that. But later when he is normal again and the risk to him has passed he could make an issue of it. We'll keep our collective fingers crossed for you.

Good morning!
It's a sunny day here outside of DC. I have one of the compute servers at work crunching away at some numbers. Mmm, crunching good. Yah! Should finish in an hour. I have my coffee beside me and good music playing in my ears.
Ah, just got a "Thank You" work email. Gave someone some code I wrote, and it helped solve her problem (how do you tell if two polygons on a spherical surface intersect, and how do you tell if one polygon on a spherical surface is completely inside another - fun stuff).
D&D is tonight, should be fun! Need to choose spells before we play; forgot to do that. Now where's that spell checker? :rasberry:
Mac0sXuser, good luck. Hopefully you'll never hear from the person again. Cool on the guitar!
BlueBell, give your Mom a present and clean your room. Neat impending storm photos btw!
Tanner, you were cleaning your room. Didja finish?
On marriages, we'll hit 24 years this September. We haven't killed each other yet, and we're doing okay. It's bumpy and stormy at times, but then that's life. I told her at the beginning it was just a trial. We'll go for the first hundred years and see how things are going at that time.
Congrats to you too MaDDoG on 25 years!
Gotta get back to work. Busy and long day.

HELLO EVERYONE!!!
MO: I just finished cleaning my room like 3 minutes ago. I stopped last night because I was trying to diagnose my PowerMac, and didn't get anywhere so I just went to bed. I finished vacuuming. I was bending over and the cord to my headphones hit the ground and I accidently vacuumed over them, which sent my iPod flying, and the cord to the headphones are gone. Wasn't my earbuds, but still good headphones IMO.
My Apple earbuds just don't seem loud enough anymore.
I need to mail a letter to a friend. I've been putting that off, because I need to go to the post office. Whenever we put mail in our mailbox, for some reason they never take it.
I'm exhausted.
4th of July plans for any Americans?
Well, anyone in general?
Just because it's not a holiday everywhere doesn't mean you can't have plans! lol
I won't have my camera...which stinks, but it's not my sister's fault she couldn't get up here to give it back. She's a broke college student!
This Pismo is a little slow to use for everyday computing. Ugh.

Good job on cleaning, Tanner! :) Too bad about the headphones. :O
I have no definite plans for the 4th, Independence Day. I guess I won't be throwing off our government, but it's always a time to consider it. Still, it might be one of those times to write to the government leaders (President, Vice President, Senators, Representative) and express an opinion. I've done it since I was a teen and still do it. I've even written Prime Minister Tony Blair (UK) and Prime Minister John Howard (Australia); Mr. Howard's office actually responded through the post. In the free world, the government works for us.

Ooh more 20 somethings - congrats all around.
And hey, nice ax you got yourself there MacOsX.
Get after them nasty Orcs tonight.
I just saved $13 on a bigger car from Thrifty Car Rental compared to our original at Enterprise. w00t.
Ok, I have a little car rental dillema. I have too many choices with thrifty.
We picked a Toyota Matrix, but I just saw one drive by...it's really small. The driver my father is 6'6, so that's not optimal, even though it's tall. We'll also have 2 large suitcases, also not good for that car. Heavy load wouldn't be good for the small car.
We can upgrade to the Dodge Avenger for $30, or better yet a Charger for $60. I originally convinced my dad to go with the Matrix because I thought it was WAY bigger. It's not.
Halp!
iKitten
07-03-2008, 08:34 PM
Depending on how many people you hope to carry, I'd get a bigger car than the Matrix. Test drove one of those and, unless it's for two people, it could be really tight!
We finally made it to Ohio. It was quite a day: driving from the easternmost point of Long Island back to LaGuardia and flying to Dayton. Oh, and our plane was delayed an hour (they had to change a tire) AND we almost got bumped off our flight! Don't know if there was a weight limit problem or overbooking, but with at least two empty seats visible, I suspect the former.
We hit town and checked into the originally reserved hotel. It was a dive and it wasn't where I thought it was (minor letdown on google maps' part). We were so tired and hungry we weren't thinking straight. After food, we found another (newer, cleaner) hotel and checked out of the first one two hours after checking in. Much better!

Oh we *did* get those nasty orcs! I almost lost my wolf, a pretty little thing. Tasha is her name. 170 pounds (77 kilos) of wildness. She was struck down by an orc, but in the end we got him. Filthy, stinking orcs.
The game went until just after midnight, and the roads were practically empty when I came home. It was a great night!
Hope everyone is having a fine day!

Hello everyone!
Thanks iKitten for your advice. It's actually probably gonna be a Pontiac Vibe (I've never seen a Japanese car in the Thrifty rental car lot, or the avis one, or the hertz one, or the enterprise one...you get my point) although the Pontiac is essentially the same vehicle.
I think we'll stay with the Matrix/Vibe because my father hates Dodges. And boy, do they have them. None of that or similar crap with the Dodges.
Hey Tanner!

Today So Far...
I just spent a couple hours debugging problems with my .mac account. In a nutshell, when I connect to iDisk, the connection hangs. I can, however, connect to a trial .mac iDisk, based on a test suggested by .mac support. This is a problem I've been trying to resolve with Apple for the last few days. For now the service is partially hosed for me, but the good news is that the Apple folks seem to be interested in solving this. I'll see how it goes.
Now to personal errands and activities. Much to do today. \(^_^)/

I haven't, but it's an option so thank you! The dot mac folks are looking into the problem now. I figure I pay for the service, it should work. It doesn't. They can fix it.

I did so much driving today it's not even funny.
And I had mcdonalds.
So good, yet so bad...
OKAY!
So, we have like really disgusting furniture in our house.
It's bad, but not THAT bad.
My mom and I are like "this couch stinks, we should get rid of it..."
and my dad is like "YOU THINK EVERYTHING STINKS!"
Well everything DOES stink because our dog likes to urinate.....like all dogs do, only this dog likes to IN the house...
Well last night we GOT RID OF ALL OF IT!
Like, all of a sudden I look out the slider door in my basement and I see our couch fly over the deck and go crashing on the ground by our fire area and it breaks into a million pieces.
I'm thinking "Hm, either mom and dad are having a little argument, or THINGS ARE BEING BURRRRRNED!"
So we burnt that huge sectional couch, MULTIPLE mattresses, box springs, 2 recliners, a bunk bed, and all that other really cheap junky stuff you SHOULD get rid of. Old and gross sheets/comforters, blankets, pillows, desks, EVERYTHING!
It felt SO GREAT.
We're not done yet though.
My parents tend to keep TOO MUCH STUFF!
"No, that twin size sheet can still be used! That stain is small, and even though we have no twin size beds, we can still use it!" and i'm like "Uh, are you kidding..." so I throw it on the fire when they're not looking.
Andd if it's been in our basement, all dusty, on the top bunk where nobody's been in FOREVER, odds are it's not being used.
I would burn every piece of furniture in our basement if I could, but it's not up to me.
Now our living room is EMPTY! NO FURNITURE! IT'S JUST A TV!
We brought in those folding chairs used for camping.
Actually, my dad is set on just buying 5 of those chairs and calling the living room good.
I don't think my mom's having that.
And we're REPAINTING! YES!
Our living room was just repainted 2 year ago, but it was a huge mistake.
This was before my parents got back together (They're divorced now, they just live together............), and my dad's girlfriend lived with us. There was actually a short period of time when my mom moved back in with my dad WHILE his now ex-girlfriend lived there, it was SO SCREWED UP! we call her yummy behind her back. If anyone wants to know, ask.
ANYWAYS
My dad is obsessed with nascar.
He wanted dale earnhardt jr in our living room.
So she painted it, and my dad picked out the colors.
It's striped red, black, and grey.
OUR CARPET IS GREEN.
And our walls are textured, so when she put tape down the paint just went through the bumps in the wall past the tape, so the stripes aren't even. The walls also aren't that even. You can't tell when it's one color, but you can when it's striped. It's like wavy stripes.
It looks ridiculous.
I'm so glad we can redo it.
MAYBE I'LL BE ABLE TO HAVE PEOPLE OVER SOMEDAY!
LOL!
