Just caught this off of TUAW, Delicious Library 2 beta (http://www.tuaw.com/2008/05/23/delicious-library-2-beta-on-the-streets/) is out and ready for download.
My partner bought DL 1 but I think we would need my iSight cam to scan in the barcodes.
So what exactly does it do?

Say you got books and you lend one to a friend but really want it back one day... You could write it as a reminder on a piece of paper but you could also loose the piece of paper.
Delicious Library allows you to scan and enter all your music CD collection, DVDs, books, etc. You can either enter the stuff manually or you can scan the barcodes. It's kinda like an inventory of all you own in terms of media.
More info here, Delicious Library (http://www.delicious-monster.com/).
Wow, very neat app!
Do you scan it with your iSight?

Well we were planning to try but that would imply that we would scan the barcodes on my iMac G5 then send them on the iBook* on the home network. A bit tedious... We could try to see if we can scan via Rendez-Vous directly from the iBook while Delicious Library is running but this might not work.
* Delicious Library is installed on the iBook, that's why.

I kind of wish DL2 had been out and I'd had it (DL1 never really caught my fancy) back when I decided to make a list of all our DVDs.
Well, it wouldn't have helped for our many, many videos (most of them films recorded on TV), nor for our new recorded DVDs, but it would certainly have sped up the process.
In the end, perhaps I'm better of having done it all in Numbers, because I have a nice list, and it really is complete.
What I disliked about DL2 when I tried the beta a couple of days ago was that my music library seemed to appear as individual songs in their "album cover" view. And it wasn't ordered properly.
Heh, I wonder if MacApper will run a review... If they are (I still don't have access to the GDocs place), I envy the one to write the review ;)
But I would certainly advise anyone with an iSight and lots of stuff to put together in a list to consider buying this app.

I use DL1 for my DVD collection (in the 500 range right now).
Used the iSight for the first 100 movies or so.
The rest I have done all manually. Never seem to have enough light to scan, or just the right distance away from the iSight. The manual add is pretty easy and a couple of different ways to do it.
Problem with it has been that the right hand pane that shows the movie info would overlay one selection on top of another and you'd have to click through 4, 5 or 6 selections before you could get back to where you could read one. They told me this was one of the issues being addressed in DL2. My only question remains, since they have known of the issue with DL1 for over a year, why wait for DL2 to fix such a problem.
Haven't even tried putting my books in it. Don't have a clue how many books I have. Have somewhere in the neighborhood of 175-200 LF best guess. At least the ones that aren't still in boxes.
Will give DL2 a shot, and see if it takes care of the problem. If not, may be making the change to DVDpedia. Downloaded it just a few days ago and it automatically imported my entire DL library.

Well, they fixed that problem - they did away with that particular view.
Looks like for full speed functionality you need 10.5.3 - so now we wait for it.
Give ya a little more feedback once I check it out some more.

I read somewhere that the last possible 10.5.3 beta test is seeded. Shouldn't be long now, me thinks.
Look forward to a review soon. I beta tested DL2, and have begun to review the final version now.

Here are the improvements and added stability that Leopard 10.5.3 is said to bring, Mac OS X 10.5.3 Build 9D34 [Seed Notes] (http://news.worldofapple.com/archives/2008/05/24/mac-os-x-1053-build-9d34-seed-notes/).

Only 175-200? ;)
I once made a list of the few books that are in my bedroom (32 only, the other many hundreds being in many different places), using Books (http://books.aetherial.net/wordpress/) (nifty app, but not as easy to use as DL, and definitely not as complete), and with my dad's recent purchase of Bento (which I realise hasn't been reviewed), I decided to drop Books and put those into Bento.
Bento wasn't made for it, unfortunately, so it's not as if I could use it as a solution to catalogue every book we have in the house. Still, it's much nicer to have that list inside a "Leopardy" application.

Well, that's not individual books, that's LF (linear feet or about 60 meters for the rest of the world) that I have shelved. So, it may be in the neighborhood of 1200-1600 individual books. Then there are the stacks here and there scattered around. Think I have about 8 boxes not unpacked from the last move 4 years ago also. Couldn't call it a library anymore since we had to get rid of a bunch when we moved cities a few years back. We had a dedicated library room in our house there. But, still enough that you have to figure out where to put them all.
It seems I don't really read that much any more. So, my book buying is almost non-existent now. Think my wife is still reading 3 or 4 a month. And thanks to Librivox, Audible and a few others I listen to 1 or 2 a month during my drive to work. Use to keep every book we bought. Now we only keep the ones that we're pretty sure we would want to read again to keep it from growing to the size it once was.
Oh, and btw, DL2 is only $20 as an upgrade from DL1. It does have some pretty cool features. Naturally, it auto imported my DL1 library. It also imported all my iTunes music, movies and audio book collections. That's pretty cool. Can't try the import feature until I buy it, as the demo only lets you add up to 25 items and it already imported well over 1,000.

I have had a look at it seems good. But I already use DVD manager. Has anyone got knowledge of both and which is better?

Well I don't know about DVD Manager but Delicious Library is much more than cataloguing only removable media. You can catalogue and keep track of your books or magazines collection, for example. Who borrowed anything from you, etc.

I have gone and done it. Just spent up big and bought Delicious Library 2. Just finished adding 290 DVD titles. Not bad only a few covers that I will need to scan in. It does a lot more than the free DVD Manager I had so it was worth it I think.

Cool, MD! You have a MacBook Pro so you can use your iSight cam, I think.
It's fun scanning the DVD's lol!

I haven't tried the iSight as yet but there was a little icon at the bottom that did something when I clicked on it.
