Ok so I won't be able to watch this today, I'm going to class for an InDesign workshop. But I thought I'd give you a rundown of links where you can get an online live feed of what's going up on stage.
For the video, Apple usually releases the presentation a few hours after the event, so you'll have to check Apple's website later tonight to view it. Apple has stopped streaming these presentations a few years ago.
Now some of these links, sometimes their feed is erratic, sometimes the network gets bogged down, connection is lost or their server can't handle the number of viewers. So if you pick one of these links and the feed stops refreshing the page for too long, just use another link, they don't share the same networks and others will continue the feed.
So here ya go:
• Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/09/steve-jobs-keynote-live-from-wwdc-2008/)
• Gizmodo (http://gizmodo.com/5013241/apple-wwdc-liveblog-monday-june-9)

I'm checking out both Macworld and engadget. Most of what they've been doing is talking about iPhone applications. Some cool looking graphics based on the engadget site.

"Push" for IM, versus running apps in the background.
Scientific calculator: rotate regular calc and get sci version.
App store s/w: free for iPhone, $10 for iPod touch.
mobile me is up...
...and I don't quite get it. However .mac users are automatically upgrated to MobileMe users.
3G iPhone announced with GPS. 8GB for $200. 16GB for $300. Release date is July 11.
Looks like it's over.

So far, no word on a new iP****. Boy are there going to be some disappointed people unless he's holding it off for the 'one more thing' thing.

At $199, I'm even tempted by it now. I must be suffering after-effects from all the hype. I need some sleep.

Overall sounds like the Keynote wasn't all that impressive.
iPhone will be cheaper but not much in the way of changes other than 3G and GPS. Plus not it's plastic.
I want one anyway.

Well, at least the aluminum backing will not interfere with reception. I read this was a well known problem. Yeah, unless they drop the price of the iPod Touch and add 802.11N to it, I'll be getting an iPhone in January. Hopefully AT&T will off the $100 off with a new contract.

Man I hope you're right and that the iPhone gets killer reception. I need it ---
I guess the 87 gb phone will be $199 and the 16 gb $299...not bad.

OMG He has seen the light!!!
Kidding you John.
For lack of carriers here and financial reasons, I won't be getting one, no matter what. Unless I win at a raffle or something. LOL

And what about Snow Leopard guys? You didn't mention it. I come home hoping I'd be told everything there is to know and I see only talk about the iPhone. What am I gonna do with you guys?

The one thing that might push me into an iPod Touch rather than the iPhone is if AT&T keeps its 'if you have an iPhone you must have a data plan' policy. I don't want that for 2 years. (Financial reasons.) If I can opt out of the data plan and just access it via WIFI, then I'm all in. If not, then I'll more than likely end up with the Touch.

There was a URL to this on Apple but they pulled it. But this tells what was said about Snow Leopard in a later meeting.

I have also some proof that Snow Leopard will NOT remove support for the Power PC and that Drivers for the PPC are being developed for it. Will try and find that and post it later.
MHC, maybe you and I are safe for a little longer!

Yeah I just come back from watching the WWDC Keynote and was very surprised to see no mention at all of Snow Leopard and wondered what was all the fuss I read here and there.
But the iPhone is coming to Canada on July 11th I learned and as rumoured, it's going to be Rogers.
P.S.: Man, His Steveness looks thinner and thinner as years go by... Hope there's no recurrence of his cancer for god's sake. :crying:
I thought the Band.app was way cool.
And how about the Schiller's social faux pas? Exchange Stink instead of Exchange Sync?

MHC, he mentions Snow Leopard right at the beginning.
Also it's on Apples site now.

I'm just gonna wait for the inevitable ipod touch price drop and buy an ipod touch then.
sure, the iphone has a camera (so does my current phone), GPS (wow... um, that was cool - now what?), and oh yeah the whole contract thing with AT&T, and a phone (whatd'ya know? my phone has that too!)
sure it's nice to have it all in once place but i can manage.
I'd say christmas would be a good time to buy. but that's just me.:w00t: sure, that means paying $20 every couple of months for a few new apps but it will be awesome anyway.

Doh! Maybe the keynote I watched had a few things left out?
Thanks for the links, trav. I'll watch those now.
And that IS very good news indeed for our iMac G5s. I still love mine.

Ok as far as I can see the only two new things are Microsoft Exchange Support and Grand Central, right? 64-bit support is already there in Leopard...
Oh ad they'll rename QuickTime to QuickTime X looks like.

I think a lot of people were expecting a lot more improvements for the iPhone. Maybe they set themselves up for failure.

Now all we have to do is wait & see what Leopard Snow's pricing will be.
Regarding the iPhone, Austen, I know what you mean, but you'll find out having an iPod Touch makes you wish you could have it all in one device.
I've never been a great fan of mobile phones, and have always used them "just" for calls, SMSes (texting for the uninitiated ;) ) and setting reminders.
I received an iTouch in March, and since then, I really wish I didn't have to carry around the extra phone. It's small (it's the Sony K310i (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/overview/k310i?cc=ee&lc=et)), but it's still too bulky when you realise you don't need a separate device anymore.
Regarding all you iPhone lovers & AT&T haters, it's a contract, right? And basically, every contract can be revoked. Try to find out what the conditions are for revoking an iPhone plan with AT&T.

And a $200 price drop since I bought both of our 16GB phones.
What's the deal with Apple? I paid $500 just a couple of months ago. And now they'll be only $300 and with newer and better features!
I feel so ... violated.
What's Apple gonna do for me, a loyal customer. I go out and give them my hard earned money and then they have the gall to drop the price?
(Hope they allow for exchanges with only a minimal charge. :) )
(Just thought I'd say it before anyone else. )

I must admit to being excited about the iPhone 3G. We haven't got it yet but now it's official.
There are just a few things for me to think over.
1.The company that has the contract has very poor coverage here in Norway.
2. The contract I have is with another company (However I can change no probs). All the other mobiles and my ADSL are with the same company as my Cell
3. In Norway you have to offer the phone without contract .I'm excited to what that price will be.
4.The company that has the contract will not say what the price will be as yet. So the wait is still on but I can see the end.

Yeah we have the same problem with Rogers here. Rogers is very big in the western provinces, here it's almost non-existent and is the least preferred carrier of Quebeckers.

Ok Apple has a page up for Snow Leopard Server (http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/snowleopard/).
And this is the first true mention I see of the new file system, ZFS. Looks like after being rumoured for implementation in 10.5 Leopard, it's gonna find its way in 10.6 Snow Leopard, at least on 10.6's server operating system.
Here is John Siracusa's take on Snow Leopard (http://arstechnica.com/staff/fatbits.ars/2008/06/10/snowed-out).

The presence of Exchange server compatibility is huge. There is a very big world of companies that hew to the Exchange model, Apple is smart to get in.

Oh dear. We might be in trouble after all, trav.
This is an article in French (http://www.logicielmac.com/news5041/Snow_Leopard__adieu_les_PPC_.html), but you can see the screenshot which is the Snow Leopard Preview install window, the version given to the WWDC developer attendees.
Dunno if the final version will be different. Let's cross our fingers.
