I love it hot and sunny provided it cools enough at night to sleep. When I used to work in law enforcement I used to love night shift on hot nights. It would bring out nearly as many nuts as the full moon or strong winds.

Yeah we got refreshing weather and it is most welcome! Today's high is supposed to be 24C (75,2) with humidity down (thank god!).

Yesterday, we had violent thunderstorms with 100 km/h winds (overturned eight big trucks on a bridge (http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/story.html?id=2fbdcbd5-3d08-4b57-bfce-daa3f382ba18) and traffic was backed up for 3-4 hours for those going to the south shore). It is said now that 206,000 users are without electricity, poles were knocked down by fallen trees.

Pretty heavy stuff.

The weather here SUCKS as it usually does. It's bascially been raining since November. I mean come on folks -- it's June 11th. I'd like to move to Arizona and have a condo there for half the year and then live here for the two days of good weather. Not sure where to go the rest of the time when it's too hot in Zona -- maybe Kalifornia (thanks for that Arnold).

Wow! I can tell you that we are having a weirdo summer so far. We had blistering heat about ten days ago, it was so hot, it was impossible to sleep.

Then it's been rather coolish, much cooler than normal. And this morning early afternoon it was still cool then, BAM hot, way hot. I feel I went through two seasons today. :rolleyes:

Hit about 97F today here in south Texas. I went outside about 4 PM, and was sweating within minutes. The temperatures aren't as bad as where iKitten is (I really don't think the southwest was meant to be settled.) but they're bad enough.

Although at 12:50 AM right now it's a nice 78 F. Might go for a midnight walk. :)

But I digress.

We have a townhouse, and the attic is essentially unused, except for storage. The roof has a cap over the peak, which is open a few inches wide. The cap allows for some air circulation. Occasionally junk blows into the attic under high winds, but water does not. On the back half of the roof is a fan that is probably 15" in diameter. It is capped for protection against the elements, but is still open to exhause air from the attic to the outside. It is connected to a thermostat that I have set to 90F (~32C). When the temp exceeds that, the fan turns on and draws air out of the attic to help cool it and thus help the living area under the attic remain cool.

Especially when the outside air is over 90, the fan runs. It will stop later at night after the air has become cooler. It can help keep the attic from becoming excessively hot, as it can become much warmer than the outside air.
