iPod Touch Rumor...
OK, I've never started a rumor before but I think this one has some legs. As I stated in another thread, no one is going to buy the Touch after 7/11 with the iPhone priced at $199. We all know Apple likes a healthy profit margin. And they definitely don't want iPod sales to dwindle. Apple must have some plans for the Touch. So I'll say it right here, right now ... I think there might be a new iPod Touch in time for Christmas!

I definitely agree with you.. HOWEVER: the iphone is cheaper for the actual model, but that does not include however much you may pay a month for AT&T and trouble caused for probably switching carrier.
but... i will wait until there is a price drop.... then it's ipod touch for me!!!!

I agree, Austen. But I have to admit I'd love to be able to carry only one device instead of two. Having a phone in one pocket and the Touch in another, plus keys, wallet, loose change, etc., seems a bit annoying. It's a tough call. I'll wait to see how things go until January. Then I'll make a final decision.
But I still think their will be a new Touch, designed more like the iPhone 3G, before Christmas. Another tempting feature I'd love them to add that they didn't add in the 3G is 802.11N. That would push me hard toward the Touch.

Why yes it is! But I haven't heard anything about the Touch. Certainly not 2 months' worth of speculation! And I am hoping for a new Touch w/ 802.11N!

Hmm. That's kinda suspect. Maybe he's got a multiple personality disorder...

iPhones now need to be activated in-store, so there's no more buying at AT&T stores and JailBreaking them.

As in, there's no just buying iPhones and using them as fatter iPod touches. You MUST sign a two-year contract when you get it at the store. So the iPhone is no longer a direct competitor with the iPod touch, so they can price independently.

That's an interesting point, however, most people view the Touch as an iPhone minus the phone. So, to the majority, if there is a component missing, the price shouldn't be higher. Apple usually does some sort of iPod event in September. This is when I predict a new and cheaper Touch will be announced.
