Fortora Fresh Finance
Has anyone tried this http://www.fortora.com? The demo limits how many entries it'll handle, so I can't convert all my Quicken data and give it a thorough workout. I can't find any reviews or any info about it other than their own press releases, and after being burned by iBank, I'm leery of investing in another personal finance app that simply opens another gate of hell.
Thanks!
Jenn

What I would do is contact the developer and ask if this feature is implemented in his software or not. Ask him to help by giving him the error messages you get or the symptoms you see while trying the import.
One of the beauties of going Mac is that generally speaking, dealing with shareware developers is a real pleasure. Most indie developers are very eager to make their apps even better than they are.

The demo is working as expected. There's just a limit on how much data it will allow you to manipulate for the demo, and I don't want to have to purchase the app in order to import all my accounts and find out if it'll do everything I want.
If nobody has any comments good or bad, I'll play with it this weekend using dummy data. I'm just looking for an alternative to Quicken, especially since it looks like the new version isn't going to be much better. I tried iBank, but entering transactions manually is painful because it's so mouse-oriented and counter-intuitive, particularly if you're entering a week's worth of receipts at once (my bank is limited in online offerings and switching banks is not an option).

We're trying out MoneyWell and it can open Quicken data, I've been told. It's better suited for budgetting though.
We have iBank but it only runs on Leopard now and we are still using Tiger in the household.

Thanks for the pointer to MoneyWell! I'll check it out this weekend.
If anyone else is interested, I can type up a comparison between that and Fortora after I've played with each.
