Nokia and Microsoft Team Up in Smartphone Arena

In what seemed liked a pretty obvious move in the smartphone arena, Nokia and Microsoft have made official that the two are joining forces to better one another. Nokia has announced that they are making the Windows Phone platform it’s “primary smartphone strategy” adding contribution to the platform from their own experience in the mobile device market.

While the specific details of the deal are being worked out, here’s a quick summary of what we are working towards:


- Nokia will adopt Windows Phone as its primary smartphone strategy, innovating on top of the platform in areas such as imaging, where Nokia is a market leader.

Microsoft Turns-On 30-Day Trials For Office 2011

Microsoft this week announced that they have launched 30-day trials for customers who want to try before they buy Microsoft Office 2011.

“If you’re still thinking about Office 2011, I’m happy to announce we now have a full trial available at www.microsoft.com/mac/trial, free to use for 30-days after download. We know it’s important for some of you to be able to test out new features. Microsoft Brings First Office App to the App Store: OneNote

You may not believe, but Microsoft is one of the major developers in the App Store’s metropolis of applications. Bing, Windows Live Messenger and Sea Dragon are one of the many applications that Redmond, Washington has available for the iOS platform. Microsoft world renowned office team has decided to take strides into the App Store with the company’s first ever productivity mobile software for the mobile platform, OneNote. The company this week has announced that the application is launched in the App Store.

Apple Update BootCamp to 3.2

Cupertino has updated the BootCamp software that allows users to install Microsoft Windows on their Macintosh machines. Version 3.2 of the software offers fixes and tweaks as well as performance and stability improvements

Over Fifty Percent of Video in H.264 is Now HTML5

Mefreedia, a media search research firm, released some interesting data results this week detailing how strong the HTML5 movement, heavily influenced by Apple, is doing on the Net. The results presented showcase that over 50% (roughly 54% to be more precise) of video encoded with the H.264 video codec on the Net is available in HTML5. That’s double the share of what it was on the Web just under half a year ago. The cause for the transition in video is attributed the substantial boom of the mobile computing industry, led, of course, by Apple’s iOS mobile platform.

Back in the Day: Steve Jobs was Heated When Redmond Bought Bungie

Very interesting news coming from Develop who interviewed the former head honcho of game publishing for Microsoft Ed Fries. In an intriguing testimony, Eddie revealed that he was personally given the task to satisfy SJ after he learned that Microsoft bought Bungie, a prominent Mac developer at the time, and turned HALO into an exclusive Xbox project.

“As soon as we announced we bought Bungie, Steve Jobs called,” Fries said.

Microsoft Bringing Zune to the Mac for WinPhone7 Support?

Interesting find on the Net this week. Oded Ran, they guy who is in charge of marketing for the Windows Phone software in Her Majestys Kingdom, got caught tweeting that the Zune software that has been Windows-only since its debut will be making a new home on Mac OS system near you, that is, if any Mac heads plan on buying a Windows Phone handset.

Microsoft Offers Sneak Peak Into Office:Mac 2011

Today, Redmond offer a view into the upcoming Microsoft Office suite of software that will be coming to the Mac OS X platform later this year. Via YouTube, the compnay has taking footage of developers explaining the their jobs on the project and disccusing new features that the software will be incorporating.

HP/Palm webOS 2.0 Platform to Take On iOS Later This Year?

After HP mentioned something completely different a couple months ago, we are now hearing that they are planning to take one of their acquired Palm properties, webOS, and is directly pitting it agains Googles and Apples ever-so-popular Android and iOS platforms with their Windows 7 demoed slate. The Windows version of the tablet computer is said to be targeted to the enterprise opposed to the typical consumer.

iWork for iPhone/iPod touch Screenshots? & iMovie on 3GS

This week we found information that Apple may be indeed planning on porting the iWork suite to the iPhone and iPod touch. On the company’s offering of AppleCare when consumers venture to purchase contract free iPhones, Apple specifically mentions support for a variant of things with the their newest brainchild, including “iWork for iPhone”
